Journal ArticleDOI
The association between guideline-based treatment instructions at the point of discharge and lower 1-year mortality in Medicare patients after acute myocardial infarction: The American College of Cardiology's Guidelines Applied in Practice (GAP) initiative in Michigan
Adam M. Rogers,Vijay S. Ramanath,Mary Grzybowski,Arthur L. Riba,Sandeep M. Jani,Rajendra H. Mehta,Anthony C. De Franco,Robert Parrish,Stephen Skorcz,Patricia L. Baker,Jessica D. Faul,Benrong Chen,Canopy Roychoudhury,Mary Anne C. Elma,Kristi Mitchell,James B. Froehlich,Cecelia K. Montoye,Kim A. Eagle +17 more
TL;DR: Increased hospital utilization of the standard discharge contract as part of the GAP program is associated with decreased 1-year mortality in Medicare patient populations with AMI.
Journal ArticleDOI
An organizational framework for the AMI ACC-GAP Project.
Cecelia K. Montoye,Kim A. Eagle +1 more
TL;DR: The results and knowledge gleaned from these projects show the best practices relative to guidelines applied consistently at the bedside in the three American College of Cardiology Acute Myocardial Infarction Guidelines Applied in Practice demonstration projects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Variants in LRP1 and ULK4 Are Associated with Acute Aortic Dissections.
Dongchuan Guo,Megan L. Grove,Siddharth K. Prakash,Per Eriksson,Ellen M. Hostetler,Scott A. LeMaire,Simon C. Body,Sherene Shalhub,Anthony L. Estrera,Hazim J. Safi,Ellen S. Regalado,Wei Zhou,Michael R. Mathis,Kim A. Eagle,Bo Yang,Cristen J. Willer,Eric Boerwinkle,Eric Boerwinkle,Dianna M. Milewicz +18 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that genetic variations in LRP1 and ULK4 contribute to risk for presenting with an acute aortic dissection, and Genomic copy-number variation analysis independently confirmed that ULK 4 deletions were significantly associated with development of thoracic aorta disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Has the frequency of bleeding changed over time for patients presenting with an acute coronary syndrome? The global registry of acute coronary events
Keith A.A. Fox,Kathryn F. Carruthers,Phillippe Gabriel Steg,Alvaro Avezum,Christopher B. Granger,Gilles Montalescot,Shaun G. Goodman,Joel M. Gore,Ann L. Quill,Kim A. Eagle +9 more
TL;DR: Despite increasing use of more intensive therapies, there was a decline in the rate of major bleeding associated with changes in clinical practice, however, individual hospital characteristics remain an important determinant of the frequency ofmajor bleeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation and atherothrombosis in the REACH Registry.
Christian T. Ruff,Deepak L. Bhatt,Ph. Gabriel Steg,Bernard J. Gersh,Mark J. Alberts,Elaine B. Hoffman,E. Magnus Ohman,Kim A. Eagle,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Shinya Goto +9 more
TL;DR: Patients with a history of both AF and atherothrombosis have particularly high long-term CV risk, and almost half of all patients with AF do not receive guideline recommended anticoagulation, highlighting an important public health priority.
