Journal ArticleDOI
Seroprevalence of pandemic 2009 (H1N1) influenza A virus among schoolchildren and their parents in Tokyo, Japan.
Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto,Taisuke Horimoto,Daisuke Tamura,Maki Kiso,Eiryo Kawakami,Shuji Hatakeyama,Yasuhiro Ebihara,Tomohiko Koibuchi,Takeshi Fujii,Kazuo Takahashi,Masayuki Shimojima,Yuko Sakai-Tagawa,Mutsumi Ito,Saori Sakabe,Ayaka Iwasa,Kei Takahashi,Takashi Ishii,Takeo Gorai,Koichiro Tsuji,Aikichi Iwamoto,Yoshihiro Kawaoka +20 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the pandemic virus was readily transmitted among schoolchildren in elementary schools and that it was also transmitted from schoolchildren to their parents, and that many adults appeared to have experienced asymptomatic infection with the pand epidemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Significance of seasonal influenza viruses in the stool of pediatric patients.
Daisuke Tamura,Motoko Fujino,Makoto Ozawa,Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto,Hideo Goto,Yuko Sakai-Tagawa,Taisuke Horimoto,Mari Nirasawa,Yoshihiro Kawaoka +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Co-administration of Favipiravir and the Remdesivir Metabolite GS-441524 Effectively Reduces SARS-CoV-2 Replication in the Lungs of the Syrian Hamster Model
Shiho Chiba,Maki Kiso,Noriko Nakajima,Shun Iida,Tadashi Maemura,Makoto Kuroda,Yuko Sato,Mutsumi Ito,Moe Okuda,Shinya Yamada,Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto,Tokiko Watanabe,Masaki Imai,Tammy Armbrust,Ralph S. Baric,Peter Halfmann,Tadaki Suzuki,Yoshihiro Kawaoka +17 more
TL;DR: Co-administration of favipiravir and the remdesivir metabolite GS-441524 more effectively blocked SARS-CoV-2 replication in the lungs of Syrian hamsters than either favipIRavir or GS- 441524 alone as part of a prophylactic or therapeutic regimen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unadjuvanted pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine in HIV-1-infected adults.
Shuji Hatakeyama,Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto,Koh Okamoto,Yoko Nukui,Nahoko Yata,Akira Fujita,Shigeki Inaba,Hiroshi Yotsuyanagi,Yoshihiro Kawaoka +8 more
TL;DR: Among HIV-infected patients, the seroconversion rate was around 50% after the first dose of unadjuvanted vaccine, and a second dose of vaccine had a limited boosting effect on immunity in this patient cohort.
Journal ArticleDOI
Capsid protein gene variation among feline calicivirus isolates.
TL;DR: Alignment of the predicted amino acid sequences demonstrated a marked heterogeneity among the isolates, confirming the current definition of hypervariable regions within the capsid protein; these regions give rise to the antigenic variations seen in FCV isolates.
