Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature-dependent regulation of mycolic acid cyclopropanation in saprophytic mycobacteria: role of the Mycobacterium smegmatis 1351 gene (MSMEG_1351) in CIS-cyclopropanation of alpha-mycolates.
Laeticia Alibaud,Anuradha Alahari,Xavier Trivelli,Anil K. Ojha,Graham F. Hatfull,Yann Guérardel,Laurent Kremer,Laurent Kremer +7 more
TL;DR: The presence of cyclopropanated cell wall mycolates in the nonpathogenic strain Mycobacterium smegmatis is demonstrated and MSMEG_1351 is identified as a gene encoding a PcaA homologue, indicating a mechanism of adaptation of cell wall structure and composition to cope with environmental factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overexpression of the KdpF Membrane Peptide in Mycobacterium bovis BCG Results in Reduced Intramacrophage Growth and Altered Cording Morphology
Laila Gannoun-Zaki,Laeticia Alibaud,Séverine Carrère-Kremer,Laurent Kremer,Anne-Béatrice Blanc-Potard +4 more
TL;DR: It is shown by quantitative RT-PCR that the Mycobacterium bovis BCG kdpAB and kdpDE genes clusters are differentially induced in potassium-deprived broth medium or within infected macrophages, suggesting that KdpF overexpression reduces intramacrophage growth which may result from alteration of the mycobacterial cell wall.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organometallic tosyl hydrazones: Synthesis, characterization, crystal structures and in vitro evaluation for anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis and antiproliferative activities
Camila Concha,Cristóbal Quintana,A. Hugo Klahn,Vania Artigas,Mauricio Fuentealba,Christophe Biot,Iman Halloum,Laurent Kremer,Laurent Kremer,Rodrigo López,Javier Romanos,Yosselin Huentupil,Rodrigo Arancibia +12 more
TL;DR: A series of new organometallic tosyl hydrazones of the general formula [{(η5-C5H4)-C(R) = NHSO2C6H4CH3}]M(CO)3 (M = Re, Mn; R = H, CH3) were prepared by the reaction between formyl or acetyl organometaller precursors with p-toluenesulfonyl hyrazide as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current perspectives on the families of glycoside hydrolases of Mycobacterium tuberculosis: their importance and prospects for assigning function to unknowns.
Niël van Wyk,Niël van Wyk,Michel Drancourt,Bernard Henrissat,Bernard Henrissat,Bernard Henrissat,Laurent Kremer,Laurent Kremer +7 more
TL;DR: The grouping of GHs into respective families provides a strong prediction on their putative biological functions, as shown in the review presented here.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lsr2 Is an Important Determinant of Intracellular Growth and Virulence in Mycobacterium abscessus.
Vincent Le Moigne,Audrey Bernut,Mélanie Cortes,Albertus Viljoen,Christian Dupont,Alexandre Pawlik,Jean-Louis Gaillard,Fabienne Misguich,Frédéric Crémazy,Laurent Kremer,Laurent Kremer,Jean-Louis Herrmann +11 more
TL;DR: Virulence of the Lsr2 mutants was considerably diminished in cellular models (macrophage and amoeba) as well as in infected animals (mouse and zebrafish) and these results emphasize the importance of LSR2 in M. abscessus virulence.
