Journal ArticleDOI
Multitarget compounds bearing tacrine- and donepezil-like structural and functional motifs for the potential treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Lhassane Ismaili,Bernard Refouvelet,Mohamed Benchekroun,Simone Brogi,Margherita Brindisi,Sandra Gemma,Giuseppe Campiani,Slavica Filipic,Danica Agbaba,Gerard Ferrer Esteban,Mercedes Unzeta,Katarina Nikolic,Stefania Butini,José Marco-Contelles +13 more
TL;DR: The purpose of this review will be to highlight recent reports on the development of multitarget compounds for Alzheimer's disease published within the last years focusing on multifunctional ligands characterized by tacrine-like and donepezil-like structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
5-amino salicylic acid bound nanoparticles for the therapy of inflammatory bowel disease.
David Pertuit,Brice Moulari,Thomas Betz,Arulraj Nadaradjane,Dirk Neumann,Lhassane Ismaili,Bernard Refouvelet,Yann Pellequer,Alf Lamprecht +8 more
TL;DR: These oral NP formulations demonstrated their therapeutic potential and appear to be an interesting approach for the therapy of inflammatory bowel disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Antioxidant Additive Approach for Alzheimer’s Disease Therapy: New Ferulic (Lipoic) Acid Plus Melatonin Modified Tacrines as Cholinesterases Inhibitors, Direct Antioxidants, and Nuclear Factor (Erythroid-Derived 2)-Like 2 Activators
Mohamed Benchekroun,Alejandro Romero,Javier Egea,Rafael León,Patrycja Michalska,Izaskun Buendia,María Luisa Jimeno,Daniel Jun,Jana Janockova,Vendula Sepsova,Ondrej Soukup,Oscar M. Bautista-Aguilera,Bernard Refouvelet,Olivier Ouari,José Marco-Contelles,Lhassane Ismaili +15 more
TL;DR: Compound 5c has been identified as a promising permeable agent showing excellent antioxidant properties, strong cholinesterase inhibitory activity, less hepatotoxicity than tacrine, and the best neuroprotective capacity, being able to significantly activate the Nrf2 transcriptional pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multitarget‐Directed Ligands Combining Cholinesterase and Monoamine Oxidase Inhibition with Histamine H3R Antagonism for Neurodegenerative Diseases
Oscar M. Bautista-Aguilera,Stefanie Hagenow,Alejandra Palomino-Antolín,Víctor Farré-Alins,Lhassane Ismaili,Pierre‐Louis Joffrin,María Luisa Jimeno,Ondřej Soukup,Jana Janockova,Lena Kalinowsky,Ewgenij Proschak,Isabel Iriepa,Ignacio Moraleda,Johannes Stephan Schwed,Alejandro Romero Martínez,Francisco López-Muñoz,Mourad Chioua,Javier Egea,Rona R. Ramsay,José Marco-Contelles,Holger Stark +20 more
TL;DR: Contilisant (at 1 mg kg-1 i.p.) also significantly improved lipopolysaccharide-induced cognitive deficits and showed antioxidative neuroprotective effects as well as the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and antioxidant activity evaluation of new hexahydropyrimido[5,4-c]quinoline-2,5-diones and 2-thioxohexahydropyrimido[5,4-c]quinoline-5-ones obtained by Biginelli reaction in two steps.
Lhassane Ismaili,Arulraj Nadaradjane,Laurence Nicod,Catherine Guyon,Alain Xicluna,Jean-François Robert,Bernard Refouvelet +6 more
TL;DR: New hexahydropyrimido[5,4-c]quinoline-2,5-diones and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and scavenging effect on hydroxyl radicals show that the compounds containing thiourea moiety have better activity.
