Journal ArticleDOI
Meiotic crossovers characterized by haplotype-specific chromosome painting in maize.
Lívia do Vale Martins,Fan Yu,Fan Yu,Hainan Zhao,Tesia Dennison,Nick Lauter,Haiyan Wang,Zuhu Deng,Addie Thompson,Kassandra Semrau,Jean Marie Rouillard,James A. Birchler,Jiming Jiang +12 more
TL;DR: Haplotype-specific oligos on maize chromosome 10 are developed for fluorescence in situ hybridization and CO patterns are analyzed in an intermated recombinant population derived from B73 and Mo17 to generate favorable allelic combinations of genes residing in these regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
A universal chromosome identification system for maize and wild Zea species.
Guilherme T. Braz,Lívia do Vale Martins,Tao Zhang,Patrice S. Albert,James A. Birchler,Jiming Jiang +5 more
TL;DR: A new technique for maize chromosome identification based on fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and two oligonucleotide-based probes that hybridize to 24 chromosomal regions are developed that support that Z. nicaraguensis and Z. luxurians are closely related species.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Mitragyna speciosa (Kratom) Genome: a resource for data-mining potent pharmaceuticals that impact human health
Julia Brose,Kin H. Lau,Thu Thuy Thi Dang,John P. Hamilton,Lívia do Vale Martins,Lívia do Vale Martins,Britta Hamberger,Bjoern Hamberger,Jiming Jiang,Sarah E. O'Connor,C. Robin Buell +10 more
TL;DR: Access to the genome of M. speciosa will facilitate an improved understanding of alkaloid biosynthesis and accelerate production of bioactive alkaloids in heterologous hosts.
Book ChapterDOI
Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization Using Oligonucleotide-Based Probes.
TL;DR: This chapter describes a detailed protocol for amplification and labeling of oligo-based probes, relevant chromosome preparation, and FISH procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oligo-FISH barcode in beans: a new chromosome identification system.
Fernanda de Oliveira Bustamante,Fernanda de Oliveira Bustamante,Thiago Henrique do Nascimento,Claudio Montenegro,Sibelle Dias,Lívia do Vale Martins,Lívia do Vale Martins,Guilherme T. Braz,Ana Maria Benko-Iseppon,Jiming Jiang,Andrea Pedrosa-Harand,Ana Christina Brasileiro-Vidal +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, an Oligo-FISH barcode system was developed for two model legumes, allowing the identification of all cowpea and common bean chromosomes in a single FISH experiment, and revealing new chromosome rearrangements.
