A pilot study in non-human primates shows no adverse response to intravenous injection of quantum dots

TL;DR: It is shown in a pilot study that rhesus macaques injected with phospholipid micelle-encapsulated CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots do not exhibit evidence of toxicity, and chemical analysis revealed that most of the initial dose of cadmium remained in the liver, spleen and kidneys after 90 days.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrastable and Biocompatible NIR-II Quantum Dots for Functional Bioimaging

TL;DR: The results show that the toxicity of the NPs in vivo could be minimal, and the potential of ultrastable, biocompatible, and bright NIR‐II QDs in biomedical and clinical applications, which require deep tissue imaging is illustrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

High Affinity to Skeleton Rare Earth Doped Nanoparticles for Near-Infrared II Imaging

TL;DR: An NIR-II fluorophore based on DSPE-mPEG encapsulated rare earth doped nanoparticles (RENPs@D SPE- mPEG), which shows inherent affinity to bone without linking any targeting ligands, and thus, it provides an alternative noninvasive and nonradiation strategy for skeletal system mapping and bone disease diagnoses.
