Comparison of Cloudless Sky Parameterizations of Solar Irradianceat Various Spanish Midlatitude Locations
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison among several cloudless sky parameterization schemes of the solar irradiance incoming at surface level is presented, based on hourly values of the relevant quantities covering periods greater than one year at each radiometric station.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in black carbon emissions over Europe due to COVID-19 lockdowns
Nikolaos Evangeliou,Stephen Matthew Platt,Sabine Eckhardt,Cathrine Lund Myhre,Paolo Laj,Paolo Laj,Paolo Laj,Lucas Alados-Arboledas,John Backman,Benjamin T. Brem,Markus Fiebig,Harald Flentje,Angela Marinoni,Marco Pandolfi,Jesús Yus-Díez,Natalia Prats,Jean-Philippe Putaud,Karine Sellegri,Mar Sorribas,Konstantinos Eleftheriadis,Stergios Vratolis,Alfred Wiedensohler,Andreas Stohl +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the effects of the COVID-19 lockdowns in Europe on ambient black carbon (BC), which affects climate and damages health, using in situ observations from 17 European stations in a Bayesian inversion framework.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct and diffuse photosynthetically active radiation: measurements and modelling
I. Alados,Lucas Alados-Arboledas +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the variations of the direct and diffuse ratios of photosynthetically active radiation to broadband solar radiation in sky conditions, and developed weather dependent functions of this ratio, to obtain an empirical model, which could be applied to estimate the photo-active radiation in those radiometric networks that register solar broadband irradiance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using a Sky Imager for aerosol characterization
TL;DR: In this article, different neural network-based models calculate the aerosol optical depth (AOD) for two wavelengths and the Angstrom turbidity parameter α using as input parameters data extracted from the principal plane of sky images from the All-Sky Imager.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aerosol properties over two urban sites in South Spain during an extended stagnation episode in winter season
Hassan Lyamani,J. Fernández-Gálvez,Daniel Pérez-Ramírez,A. Valenzuela,Manuel Antón,I. Alados,Gloria Titos,F.J. Olmo,Lucas Alados-Arboledas +8 more
TL;DR: Columnar and ground level aerosol properties as well as mass concentrations of some gaseous pollutants were measured at two urban sites (Granada and Malaga, South Spain) before, during and after an extended stagnation episode from 7 to 13 February 2011.
