Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of solar radiative effects of Mount Pinatubo at ground level
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used ground-based data obtained at 2 radiometric stations, located at very different latitudes (Estonia and Spain), to study the evolution of the Pinatubo eruption effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of night-time aerosols measurements and lunar irradiance models in the frame of the first multi-instrument nocturnal intercomparison campaign
África Barreto,Roberto Román,Roberto Román,Emilio Cuevas,Daniel Pérez-Ramírez,Alberto Berjón,Natalia Kouremeti,Stelios Kazadzis,Julian Gröbner,Mauro Mazzola,Carlos Toledano,Jose Antonio Benavent-Oltra,Lionel Doppler,J. Juryšek,A.F. Almansa,S. Victori,F. Maupin,Carmen Guirado-Fuentes,Ramiro González,Vito Vitale,Philippe Goloub,Luc Blarel,Lucas Alados-Arboledas,Emma R. Woolliams,S. Taylor,Juan Carlos Antuña,Margarita Yela +26 more
TL;DR: The first multi-instrument nocturnal optical depth (AOD) intercomparison campaign was held at the high-mountain Izana Observatory (Tenerife, Spain) in June 2017, involving 2-min synchronous measurements from two different types of lunar photometers (Cimel CE318-T and Moon Precision Filter Radiometer, LunarPFR) and one stellar photometer as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Longwave aerosol radiative effects during an extreme desert dust event in southeastern Spain
Manuel Antón,A. Valenzuela,David Mateos,I. Alados,I. Foyo-Moreno,F.J. Olmo,Lucas Alados-Arboledas +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of a strong Saharan dust event on longwave (LW) irradiance recorded at Granada (Southeastern Spain) on 6 September 2007 was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Origin and pathways of the mineral dust transport to two Spanish EARLINET sites: Effect on the observed columnar and range-resolved dust optical properties
Florian Mandija,Michaël Sicard,Adolfo Comerón,Lucas Alados-Arboledas,Juan Luis Guerrero-Rascado,Ruben Barragan,Juan Antonio Bravo-Aranda,Juan Antonio Bravo-Aranda,María José Granados-Muñoz,María José Granados-Muñoz,Hassan Lyamani,Constantino Muñoz Porcar,Francisco Rocadenbosch,Alejandro Rodríguez,A. Valenzuela,A. Valenzuela,David García Vizcaíno +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method for estimation of the effect of the transport process to aerosol optical properties is presented, where elastic lidar profiles and sun-photometer columnar retrievals are analyzed together with satellite observations and dust forecast models.
Journal ArticleDOI
A model for climatological estimations of global, diffuse, and direct solar radiation on a horizontal surface
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple model based on the intensity of direct and diffuse radiation expressed as fractions of intensity of the extraterrestrial radiation has been developed, and assuming a random distribution of bright sunshine hours with not too wide a variation in the transmission coefficient values, a number of equations for estimating the climatological values of global and diffuse irradiation are derived.
