Dirac fermions and flat bands in the ideal kagome metal FeSn
Mingu Kang,Linda Ye,Shiang Fang,Jhih-Shih You,Abe Levitan,Minyong Han,Jorge I. Facio,Chris Jozwiak,Aaron Bostwick,Eli Rotenberg,Mun Chan,Ross D. McDonald,David Graf,Konstantine Kaznatcheev,Elio Vescovo,David C. Bell,Efthimios Kaxiras,Jeroen van den Brink,Manuel Richter,Manuel Richter,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Joseph Checkelsky,Riccardo Comin +23 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the bulk Dirac bands arise from in-plane localized Fe-3 d orbitals, and evidence that the coexisting Dirac surface state realizes a rare example of fully spin-polarized two-dimensional Dirac fermions due to spin-layer locking in FeSn is identified.

Dirac fermions and flat bands in the ideal kagome metal FeSn
Mingu Kang,Linda Ye,Shiang Fang,Jhih-Shih You,Abe Levitan,Minyong Han,Jorge I. Facio,Chris Jozwiak,Aaron Bostwick,Eli Rotenberg,Mun Chan,Ross D. McDonald,David Graf,Konstantine Kaznatcheev,Elio Vescovo,David C. Bell,Efthimios Kaxiras,Jeroen van den Brink,Manuel Richter,Manuel Richter,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Joseph Checkelsky,Riccardo Comin +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an antiferromagnetic single-layer kagome metal with spatially-decoupled KGome planes was examined using polarization and termination-dependent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) to detect the momentum-space signatures of coexisting flat bands and Dirac fermions in the vicinity of Fermi energy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic anisotropy and spin-polarized two-dimensional electron gas in the van der Waals ferromagnet Cr 2 Ge 2 Te 6
J. Zeisner,J. Zeisner,A. Alfonsov,S. Selter,S. Selter,Saicharan Aswartham,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Martin Richter,Martin Richter,J. van den Brink,Bernd Büchner,Bernd Büchner,Vladislav Kataev +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic anisotropy in bulk single crystals of a quasi-two-dimensional ferromagnet has been investigated and the determined magnetocrystalline energy density (MAE) was provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ba2NiOsO6: A Dirac-Mott insulator with ferromagnetism near 100 K
Hai L. Feng,Hai L. Feng,Stuart Calder,Madhav Prasad Ghimire,Yahua Yuan,Yahua Yuan,Yuichi Shirako,Yoshihiro Tsujimoto,Yoshitaka Matsushita,Zhiwei Hu,Chang Yang Kuo,Liu Hao Tjeng,Tun Wen Pi,Yun-Liang Soo,Jianfeng He,Jianfeng He,Masahiko Tanaka,Yoshio Katsuya,Manuel Richter,Manuel Richter,Kazunari Yamaura,Kazunari Yamaura +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a double perovskite structure was synthesized at 6 GPa and 1500 \ifmmode^\circ\else\text degree\fi{}C. The magnetic state was investigated by density functional theory calculations and powder neutron diffraction.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Pressure Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Magnetic Properties of 5d Double-Perovskite Oxides Ca2MgOsO6 and Sr2MgOsO6

TL;DR: These compounds offer a better opportunity for the clarification of the basis of 5d magnetic sublattices, with regard to the possible use of perovskite-related oxides in multifunctional devices.
