TL;DR: A web-based cross-sectional survey to assess the acceptance of the TNM thymic staging system in the thoracic community indicates that the Union for International Cancer Control/American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM stage classification ofThymic tumors is gaining acceptance among the scientific community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumor angiogenesis and biologic markers in resected stage I NSCLC.
Marco Lucchi,G. Fontanini,Alfredo Mussi,S Vignati,Alessandro Ribechini,G. F. Menconi,Generoso Bevilacqua,Carlo Alberto Angeletti +7 more
TL;DR: The present study corroborates the role of angiogenesis in the metastatic spread of NSCLC and emphasizes its value in the identification of patients in whom surgery should be supplemented by systemic treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin-8 in non-small cell lung carcinoma: Relation with angiogenic pattern and p53 alterations
Laura Boldrini,Silvia Gisfredi,Silvia Ursino,Marco Lucchi,Alfredo Mussi,Fulvio Basolo,Raffaele Pingitore,Gabriella Fontanini +7 more
TL;DR: A correlation between IL-8 mRNA expression, intratumoral MVC and VEGF mRNA expression levels is observed; furthermore, an aberrant p53 status was related toIL-8 expression; however, in the authors' samples IL- 8 levels did not significantly affect prognosis of NSCLC; more studies are required to elucidate the precise role of IL-7 in a large series of patients with non-small cell lung carcinoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical Treatment of Recurrent Thymomas
Marco Lucchi,Alfredo Mussi +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that reoperation for thymoma recurrences is feasible and relatively safe, and it should always be considered because the other treatment modalities are not curative.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical treatment of recurrent thymoma: is it worthwhile?
Giuseppe Marulli,Stefano Margaritora,Marco Lucchi,Giuseppe Cardillo,Pierluigi Granone,Alfredo Mussi,Francesco Carleo,Egle Perissinotto,Federico Rea +8 more
TL;DR: Reoperation for recurrent thymoma is effective and safe, achieving a prolonged survival and completeness of resection and single recurrence are associated with better prognosis.
