Journal Article

Vascular endothelial growth factor is associated with neovascularization and influences progression of non-small cell lung carcinoma.

TL;DR: The hypothesis that VEGF is an important angiogenic factor in primary NSCLC and may help in predicting the outcome of this group of cancers is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bcl-2 protein: a prognostic factor inversely correlated to p53 in non-small-cell lung cancer.

TL;DR: A high proportion of NSCLCs express p53 and Bcl-2 proteins and their expression may have prognostic importance, and an inverse relationship was found between Bcl2 and the anti-oncogene protein product p53.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microvessel count predicts metastatic disease and survival in non‐small cell lung cancer

TL;DR: The overall survival analysis calculated by the Kaplan‐Meier method revealed that tumours with high MC were significantly associated with increased death risk, and patients who developed metastasis during follow‐up showed a higher MC than patients who had developed no metastasis at the time of the analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

The IASLC Lung Cancer Staging Project: Methodology and Validation Used in the Development of Proposals for Revision of the Stage Classification of NSCLC in the Forthcoming (Eighth) Edition of the TNM Classification of Lung Cancer

Frank C. Detterbeck, +164 more
TL;DR: An extensive analysis has produced stage classification proposals for lung cancer with a robust degree of discriminatory consistency and general applicability and external validation is encouraged to identify areas of strength and weakness.
