Journal ArticleDOI

Altered blood–brain barrier development in dystrophic MDX mice

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that a reduction in dystrophin isoforms (Dp71) at glial endfeet leads to an altered development of the BBB, whose no-closure might contribute to the neurological dysfunctions associated with DMD.
Journal ArticleDOI

The speed of swelling kinetics modulates cell volume regulation and calcium signaling in astrocytes: A different point of view on the role of aquaporins.

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that AQP influenced swelling kinetics is the main trigger for RVD and in mediating calcium signaling after hypotonic stimulus together with TRPV4, and calcium influx from the extracellular space and/or TRPv4 are not essential for RVA to occur in astrocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Massive transcriptome sequencing of human spinal cord tissues provides new insights into motor neuron degeneration in ALS.

TL;DR: This work deeply sequenced whole transcriptome from spinal cord ventral horns of post-mortem ALS human donors affected by the sporadic form of the disease to find strong deregulation of SNAP25 and STX1B at both mRNA and protein levels suggesting impaired synaptic function through SNAP25 reduction as a possible cause of calcium elevation and glutamate excitotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biophysical assessment of aquaporin-9 as principal facilitative pathway in mouse liver import of glucogenetic glycerol.

TL;DR: The identity and extent of liver glycerol transport is defined and the correlation between hepatic AQP9 expression and Glycerol permeability (Pgly) in AQP 9+/+ wild‐type mice in different nutritional states and circulating insulin levels is evaluated.
