Journal ArticleDOI
First-principles insights into the spin-valley physics of strained transition metal dichalcogenides monolayers
TL;DR: In this article , the influence of strain on the spin and orbital angular momenta, effective g-factors, and Berry curvatures of several monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) was investigated using a full ab initio approach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin properties of black phosphorus and phosphorene, and their prospects for spincalorics
TL;DR: In this article, the intrinsic spin-orbit coupling and spin scattering in phosphorene and bulk black phosphorus was investigated and it was shown that for small enough electric fields the spin relaxation is dominated by the Elliott-Yafet mechanism, while the D'yakonov-Perel' matters for higher electric fields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Twist-angle engineering of excitonic quantum interference and optical nonlinearities in stacked 2D semiconductors
Kai-Qiang Lin,Paulo E. Faria Junior,Jonas M. Bauer,Bo Peng,Bartomeu Monserrat,Martin Gmitra,Jaroslav Fabian,Sebastian Bange,John M. Lupton +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, high-lying excitons in bilayer WSe2 can be tuned over 235 meV by twisting, with a twistangle susceptibility of 8.1 meV/°, an order of magnitude larger than that of the band-edge A-exciton.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fully spin-polarized bulk states in ferroelectric GeTe
J. Krempaský,Mauro Fanciulli,Mauro Fanciulli,Laurent Nicolaï,Jan Minár,Henrieta Volfová,Ondřej Caha,Valentine V. Volobuev,Valentine V. Volobuev,Jaime Sánchez-Barriga,Martin Gmitra,Koichiro Yaji,Kenta Kuroda,Shik Shin,Fumio Komori,Gunther Springholz,J. Hugo Dil,J. Hugo Dil +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the spin polarization of GeTe films as a function of light polarization and observed that the bulk states are sufficiently spin-polarized in the initial state, in contrast with observations for other systems with a strong spin-orbit interaction and the surface derived states in the same system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermally Assisted Current-Driven Bistable Precessional Regimes in Asymmetric Spin Valves
Martin Gmitra,Józef Barnaś +1 more
TL;DR: A bistable precessional regime is found in asymmetric spin valves and thermal fluctuations can excite transitions between the corresponding oscillatory regimes that are well separated by irreversible paths at low temperatures.
