Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of Papillomaviruses, Polyomaviruses, and Herpesviruses in Triple-Negative and Inflammatory Breast Tumors from Algeria Compared with Other Types of Breast Cancer Tumors
Marilys Corbex,Sabiha Bouzbid,Alexandra Traverse-Glehen,Hayette Aouras,Sandrine McKay-Chopin,Christine Carreira,Abdelaziz Lankar,Massimo Tommasino,Tarik Gheit +8 more
TL;DR: The authors' results suggest an association between the presence of viral DNA and aggressive breast cancer phenotypes (IBC, triple-negative).
Journal ArticleDOI
The E6E7 oncoproteins of cutaneous human papillomavirus type 38 interfere with the interferon pathway.
Pablo Cordano,Victoria Gillan,Sigrid Bratlie,Véronique Bouvard,Lawrence Banks,Massimo Tommasino,M. Saveria Campo +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that HPV-38 E6 and E7 affect the IFN-induced up-regulation of MHC class I and encodes oncoproteins that potentially contribute to the evasion of host immune surveillance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human papillomavirus E7 proteins stimulate proliferation independently of their ability to associate with retinoblastoma protein.
TL;DR: A comparative analysis of the different E7 proteins demonstrates that the oncogenicity of a HPV type is not determined by the ability of E7 to associate with the pocket proteins, and provides evidence that different E 7s alter the regulation of the cell cycle by diverse mechanism(s).
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of human papillomavirus infection in the etiology of vulvar cancer in Italian women
Mario Preti,John Charles Rotondo,John Charles Rotondo,Dana Holzinger,Leonardo Micheletti,Niccolò Gallio,Sandrine McKay-Chopin,Christine Carreira,Sebastiana Privitera,Reiko Watanabe,Ruediger Ridder,Ruediger Ridder,Michael Pawlita,Chiara Benedetto,Massimo Tommasino,Tarik Gheit +15 more
TL;DR: A small proportion of Italian VSCCs is putatively HPV-related, i.e. positive for both viral DNA and RNA of the same type, thus reinforcing the importance of HPV vaccination.
Journal ArticleDOI
Case-control study of cutaneous human papillomavirus infection in Basal cell carcinoma of the skin.
Michelle R. Iannacone,Tarik Gheit,Tim Waterboer,Anna R. Giuliano,Jane L. Messina,Neil A. Fenske,Basil S. Cherpelis,Vernon K. Sondak,Richard G. Roetzheim,Sandra Ferrer-Gil,Kristina M. Michael,Sandrine McKay-Chopin,Michael Pawlita,Massimo Tommasino,Dana E. Rollison +14 more
TL;DR: The combined serology and tumor DNA results suggest that β HPV types may have a role in BCC, with type-specific associations observed for HPV8 and HPV23, whereas no association was observed between β-HPV seropositivity and β- HPV DNA-negative BCC.
