Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-talk of cutaneous beta human papillomaviruses and the immune system: determinants of disease penetrance
TL;DR: An overview of the critical interactions of genus beta-HPVs with the local immune system that allow the virus to complete its life cycle, to escape from extrinsic immunity, and eventually to cause chronic inflammation contributing to skin carcinogenesis is given.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of mucosal and cutaneous human papillomavirus in Moroccan breast cancer.
Amal ElAmrani,Tarik Gheit,Mustapha Benhessou,Sandrine McKay-Chopin,Mohammed Attaleb,Souha Sahraoui,Mohammed El Mzibri,Marilys Corbex,Massimo Tommasino,Meriem Khyatti +9 more
TL;DR: Human papillomavirus DNA was found 3 times as frequently in the BC tumours as in the controls, however, this difference requires confirmation in a larger sample.
Journal ArticleDOI
Are two doses of human papillomavirus vaccine sufficient for girls aged 15-18 years? Results from a cohort study in India.
Neerja Bhatla,Bhagwan M. Nene,Smita Joshi,Pulikottil O. Esmy,Usha Rani Reddy Poli,Geeta Joshi,Yogesh Verma,Eric Zomawia,Sharmila Pimple,Priya R. Radhakrishna Pillai,Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan +36 more
TL;DR: It is found that two doses of HPV vaccine can be extended to girls aged 15–18 years and none of the girls receiving two or three doses had persistent infection from vaccine-targeted types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of IFI16 overexpression on the growth and doxorubicin sensitivity of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma-derived cell lines.
Marco De Andrea,Daniela Gioia,Michele Mondini,Barbara Azzimonti,Filippo Renò,Giancarlo Pecorari,Vincenzo Landolfo,Massimo Tommasino,Rosita Accardi,Christel Herold-Mende,Santo Landolfo,Marisa Gariglio +11 more
TL;DR: This study further evaluates the molecular role of IFI16 in the development of HNSCCs and shows that the levels of the interferon‐inducible protein I FI16 inversely correlate with cancer grade.
Journal ArticleDOI
p53 mutations are common in human papillomavirus type 38-positive non-melanoma skin cancers
Sandra Caldeira,Raffaele Filotico,Rosita Accardi,Ingeborg Zehbe,Silvia Franceschi,Massimo Tommasino +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that p53 gene is frequently mutated in HPV38-positive skin cancers and that HPV38 E6 does not promote p53 degradation, suggesting different mechanisms appear to be involved in the development of HPV-positive cervical and skin cancers.
