NMR Signatures of the Active Sites in Sn-β Zeolite†
Patrick Wolf,Patrick Wolf,Maxence Valla,Aaron J. Rossini,Aleix Comas-Vives,Francisco Núñez-Zarur,Bernard Malaman,Anne Lesage,Lyndon Emsley,Christophe Copéret,Ive Hermans +10 more
TL;DR: This approach unambiguously shows the presence of framework Sn(IV)-active sites in an octahedral environment, which probably correspond to so-called open and closed sites, respectively (namely, tin bound to three or four siloxy groups of the zeolite framework).
Journal ArticleDOI
Atomic Description of the Interface between Silica and Alumina in Aluminosilicates through Dynamic Nuclear Polarization Surface-Enhanced NMR Spectroscopy and First-Principles Calculations
Maxence Valla,Aaron J. Rossini,Maxime Caillot,Maxime Caillot,Céline Chizallet,Pascal Raybaud,Mathieu Digne,Alexandra Chaumonnot,Anne Lesage,Lyndon Emsley,Jeroen A. van Bokhoven,Jeroen A. van Bokhoven,Christophe Copéret +12 more
TL;DR: Dynamic nuclear polarization surface enhanced NMR spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations show that on silica and alumina surfaces, molecular aluminum and silicon precursors are preferentially grafted on sites that enable the formation of Al(IV) and Si( IV) interfacial sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlating Synthetic Methods, Morphology, Atomic-Level Structure, and Catalytic Activity of Sn-β Catalysts
Patrick Wolf,Patrick Wolf,Maxence Valla,Francisco Núñez-Zarur,Francisco Núñez-Zarur,Aleix Comas-Vives,Aaron J. Rossini,Connor Firth,Hana Kallas,Anne Lesage,Lyndon Emsley,Christophe Copéret,Ive Hermans +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, a systematic study of the morphology and atomic-level structure of Sn-β zeolites using DNP NMR spectroscopy in combination with first-principles calculations leads to a proposal of specific structural features that are important for high activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unraveling the Core–Shell Structure of Ligand-Capped Sn/SnOx Nanoparticles by Surface-Enhanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mössbauer, and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopies
Loredana Protesescu,Loredana Protesescu,Aaron J. Rossini,Dominik Kriegner,Maxence Valla,Antoine de Kergommeaux,Marc Walter,Marc Walter,Kostiantyn V. Kravchyk,Kostiantyn V. Kravchyk,Maarten Nachtegaal,Julian Stangl,Bernard Malaman,Peter Reiss,Anne Lesage,Lyndon Emsley,Christophe Copéret,Maksym V. Kovalenko,Maksym V. Kovalenko +18 more
TL;DR: DNP-SENS experiments can be carried on many types of uniform colloidal nanomaterials containing NMR-active nuclei, in the presence of either hydrophilic (ion-capped surfaces) or hydrophobic (capping ligands with long hydrocarbon chains) surface functionalities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cooperativity between Al Sites Promotes Hydrogen Transfer and Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation upon Dimethyl Ether Activation on Alumina.
TL;DR: Results indicate that extra framework Al centers in acidic zeolites, which are associated with alumina, can play a key role in the formation of the first carbon–carbon bond, the initiation step of the industrial MTO process.
