Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial quaternary ammonium compounds in dental materials: A systematic review.
TL;DR: Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) represent one of the most effective classes of disinfectant agents in dental materials and resin nanocomposites and presents low cytotoxicity and excellent long-term antimicrobial activity without leaching out over time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial ionic liquid‐based materials for biomedical applications
Nasser Nikfarjam,Matineh Ghomi,Tarun Agarwal,Mahnaz Hassanpour,Esmaeel Sharifi,Danial Khorsandi,Moonis Ali Khan,Filippo Rossi,Arianna Rossetti,Ehsan Nazarzadeh Zare,Navid Rabiee,Davoud Afshar,Massoud Vosough,Tapas K. Maiti,Virgilio Mattoli,Eric Lichtfouse,Franklin R. Tay,Pooyan Makvandi +17 more
TL;DR: The potential applications of ionic liquids in the biomedical arena, including regenerative medicine, biosensing, and drug/biomolecule delivery, are presented to stimulate the scientific community to further improve the antimicrobial efficacy of ionsic liquids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surfactant free Pickering emulsion polymerization of styrene in w/o/w system using cellulose nanofibrils
TL;DR: In this paper, a method to synthesize Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)-free expandable polystyrene beads containing well-dispersed water microdroplets as blowing agent was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesoporous Bioactive Glasses in Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy: Stimuli-Responsive, Toxicity, Immunogenicity, and Clinical Translation
Esmaeel Sharifi,Ashkan Bigham,Satar Yousefiasl,Maria Trovato,Matineh Ghomi,Matineh Ghomi,Yasaman Esmaeili,Pouria Samadi,Ali Zarrabi,Milad Ashrafizadeh,Shokrollah Sharifi,Rossella Sartorius,Farnaz Dabbagh Moghaddam,Aziz Maleki,Hao Song,Tarun Agarwal,Tapas K. Maiti,Nasser Nikfarjam,Colin Burvill,Virgilio Mattoli,Maria Grazia Raucci,Kai Zheng,Aldo R. Boccaccini,Luigi Ambrosio,Pooyan Makvandi +24 more
TL;DR: The mesoporous bioactive glasses (MBGs) have been widely used in cancer diagnosis and therapy as discussed by the authors. But they have not yet met their potential in tumor treatment and imaging in practice, although MBGs have shown promising capabilities as promising systems for cancer imaging and therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrospinning of zein/propolis nanofibers; antimicrobial properties and morphology investigation.
TL;DR: The proteinic nature of zein along with the antimicrobial activity and the herbal nature of the propolis make the obtained mats promising candidate for more evaluation in wound healing study.
