Journal ArticleDOI
The age distribution of stellar clusters in M83
TL;DR: In this article, the authors empirically determine the time-scale and environmental dependence of stellar cluster disruption, and they have undertaken an analysis of the unprecedented multipointing (seven), multiwaveleng...
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of stellar structure in the Small Magellanic Cloud
TL;DR: In this paper, the projected distribution of stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) was analyzed using the minimum spanning tree (MST) and the two-point correlation function and a method based on the Minimum Spanning Tree.
Journal ArticleDOI
Star clusters in the tidal tails of interacting galaxies: cluster populations across a variety of tail environments
B. Mullan,I. S. Konstantopoulos,Amanda A. Kepley,Amanda A. Kepley,K. H. Lee,Jane C. Charlton,K. Knierman,Nate Bastian,Rupali Chandar,Patrick R. Durrell,Debra Meloy Elmegreen,Jayanne English,Sarah C. Gallagher,Caryl Gronwall,John E. Hibbard,S. D. Hunsberger,Kelsey E. Johnson,A. Maybhate,Christopher Palma,G. Trancho,William D. Vacca +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors search for compact stellar structures within 17 tidal tails in 13 interacting galaxies using F606W- and F814W-band images from the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 on the Hubble Space Telescope.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic uncertainties in the analysis of star cluster parameters based on broad-band imaging observations
R. de Grijs,Peter Anders,Henny J. G. L. M. Lamers,Nate Bastian,Nate Bastian,U. Fritze-v. Alvensleben,Geneviève Parmentier,Geneviève Parmentier,Margarita Sharina,Sukyoung K. Yi +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the results obtained using a variety of commonly used modelling techniques, specifically with respect to their own extensively tested multi-dimensional approach, and conclude that the actual filter systems used for the observations should be used for constructing model colours, instead of using conversion equations, to achieve more accurate derivations of ages and masses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for environmentally dependent cluster disruption in M83
Nate Bastian,Angela Adamo,Mark Gieles,Henny J. G. L. M. Lamers,S. S. Larsen,E. Silva-Villa,Linda J. Smith,Ralf Kotulla,I. S. Konstantopoulos,G. Trancho,Erik Zackrisson +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the stellar cluster populations of two adjacent fields in the nearby face-on spiral galaxy, M83, were studied using multi-wavelength imaging from the Wide Field Camera 3 on the Hubble Space Telescope.
