Updated radial velocities and new constraints on the nature of the unseen source in NGC1850 BH1
S. Saracino,Tomer Shenar,Sebastian Kamann,Nate Bastian,Mark Gieles,Christopher Usher,J. Bodensteiner,A. Kochoska,Jerome A. Orosz,Hugues Sana +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper , an upper bound of 10% of a luminous primary source to the observed optical light in NGC1850 BH1 was established, assuming that the primary and secondary are the only components contributing to the system.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Watson,Martyn Wells,David Wright,Tayyaba Zafar,Alessio Zanutta +76 more
TL;DR: The Cassegrain U-Band Efficient Spectrograph (CUBES) as discussed by the authors was designed to provide high efficiency (> 40%) observations in the near UV (305-400 nm requirement, 300-420 nm goal) at a spectral resolving power of R >20, 000 (with a lower-resolution, sky-limited mode of R ~7, 000).
Journal ArticleDOI
The Young Cluster Population of M82 Region B
Linda J. Smith,Linda J. Smith,Nate Bastian,Iraklis S. Konstantopoulos,John S. Gallagher,Mark Gieles,R. de Grijs,R. de Grijs,S. S. Larsen,Robert W. O'Connell,M. S. Westmoquette +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used UBVI photometry with models to derive ages and extinctions for 35 U-band selected star clusters and found that the peak epoch of cluster formation occurred ~ 150 Myr ago, compared to earlier work that found a peak formation age of 1.1 Gyr.
Journal Article
Red Supergiants as Cosmic Abundance Probes
Ben Davies,Rolf-Peter Kudritzki,Maria Bergemann,Chris Evans,Z. Gazak,Carmela Lardo,Lee Patrick,B. Plez,Nate Bastian +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a spectral analysis of individual RSGs was used to derive accurate chemical abundances from relatively low-resolution data, focusing on a spectral window in the J-band which contains few molecular lines.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Tarantula Survey is an ESO Large Programme which has obtained multi-epoch spectroscopy of over 1,000 massive stars in the 30 Doradus region of the Large Magellanic Cloud as mentioned in this paper.
