Multi-epoch Spectropolarimetry of SN 2011fe
Paul S. Smith,G. Grant Williams,Nathan Smith,Peter Milne,Buell T. Jannuzi,Elizabeth M. Green +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, multiple spectropolarimetric observations of the nearby Type Ia supernova SN 2011fe in M101 were obtained before, during, and after the time of maximum apparent visual brightness.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Canonical Luminous Blue Variable AG Car and Its Neighbor Hen 3-519 Are Much Closer than Previously Assumed
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to solve a set of problems with the NSF PAARE (NSF-PAARE-1358862) grant, which is based on AST-1210599 and AST-1312221.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nearby regions of massive star formation
TL;DR: In this article, a fossil record of massive star birth in the Solar vicinity over about the last 40 Myr is reviewed, showing that most massive stars are born from dense, high-pressure, hot cores which spawn transient clusters that dissipate into the field soon after formation.

Riess,Adam G. Riess,Piero Rosati,Kasper B. Schmidt,Keren Sharon,Benjamin J. Weiner +55 more
TL;DR: In this article, an image of an individual star at redshift z = 1.49 (dubbed "MACS J1149 Lensed Star 1 (LS1)") magnified by >2000 was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-resolution spectroscopy of SN 2017hcc and its blueshifted line profiles from post-shock dust formation
Nathan Smith,Jennifer E. Andrews +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors obtained high-resolution echelle spectra of SN2017hcc and combined with other spectra to investigate its line profile evolution, showing a progressively increasing blueshift, with a clear flux deficit in red wings of the intermediate and broad velocity components after day 200.
