Understanding the effects of sand and dust accumulation on photovoltaic modules
TL;DR: In this article, numerical and analytical models of sand and dust particle accumulation on photovoltaic modules in dry regions are presented and supported by a laboratory investigation of sand particles accumulation on a glass surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Near-term economic benefits from grid-connected residential PV (photovoltaic) systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a comparative assessment of the near-term economic benefits of grid-connected residential PV systems and demonstrate the importance of location specific system planning and demand-generation matching through optimal sizing of the PV system and demand side management.
A strategic research agenda for photovoltaic solar energy technology : report of the EU PV technology platform
WC Wim Sinke,van Rjc Ronald Zolingen,Christophe Ballif,Andreas W. Bett,Bernhard Dimmler,D Dimova-Malinovska,P Fath,F Ferrazza,H-J Gabler,M. Hall,A Marti,N. B Mason,E Mellikov,A. Milner,Paul C. Mogensen,C Panhuber,Nicola Pearsall,Jef Poortmans,C Protogeropoulos,G Sarre,D Sarti,P Strauss,Marko Topič,T Zdanowicz +23 more
TL;DR: The EU PV Technology Platform as mentioned in this paper aims at joining forces on a European level to contribute to the further development of photovoltaic solar energy into a competitive technology that can be applied on a large scale and to the strengthening of the position of the European PV industry on the global market.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic compositional changes and their influence on lattice and optoelectronic properties of Cu2ZnSnSe4 kesterite solar cells
José A. Márquez,Markus Neuschitzer,Mirjana Dimitrievska,René Gunder,René Gunder,Stefan G. Haass,M. Werner,Yaroslav E. Romanyuk,Susan Schorr,Susan Schorr,Nicola Pearsall,Ian Forbes +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of variations of compositions on the crystal lattice of the absorber layer of the kesterite solar cells is studied. And the authors show that a decrease of the Cu content in the CZTSe absorbber layer diminishes the unit cell volume.
Journal ArticleDOI
Energy Return on Energy Invested (ERoEI) for photovoltaic solar systems in regions of moderate insolation:a comprehensive response
Marco Raugei,Marco Raugei,Sgouris Sgouridis,David J. Murphy,Vasilis Fthenakis,Vasilis Fthenakis,Rolf Frischknecht,Christian Breyer,Ugo Bardi,C. J. Barnhart,Alastair Buckley,Michael Carbajales-Dale,Denes Csala,Mariska de Wild-Scholten,Garvin Heath,Garvin Heath,Arnulf Jæger-Waldau,Chris Jones,Arthur Keller,Enrica Leccisi,Pierluigi Mancarella,Nicola Pearsall,Adam Siegel,W.C. Sinke,Philippe Stolz +24 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide revised EROI calculations for PV electricity in Switzerland, adopting both conventional and "extended" system boundaries, to contrast with their results, which points to an order-of-magnitude underestimate of PV in Switzerland.
