Journal ArticleDOI
Heat-shock protein 70 inhibits apoptosis by preventing recruitment of procaspase-9 to the Apaf-1 apoptosome.
Helen M. Beere,Beni B. Wolf,Kelvin Cain,Dick D. Mosser,Artin Mahboubi,Tomomi Kuwana,Pankaj Tailor,Richard I. Morimoto,Gerald M. Cohen,Douglas R. Green +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown, using a cell-free system, that Hsp70 prevents cytochrome c/dATP-mediated caspase activation, but allows the formation of Apaf-1 oligomers, which suppresses apoptosis by directly associating with Apf-1 and blocking the assembly of a functional apoptosome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defective cytochrome c-dependent caspase activation in ovarian cancer cell lines due to diminished or absent apoptotic protease activating factor-1 activity.
Beni B. Wolf,Martin Schuler,Wei Li,Beth Eggers-Sedlet,Wilson Lee,Pankaj Tailor,Patrick Fitzgerald,Gordon B. Mills,Douglas R. Green +8 more
TL;DR: Regulation of APAF-1 activity may be important for apoptosis regulation in some ovarian cancers because it correlated in some but not all cell lines with resistance to apoptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lubricin/Proteoglycan 4 binds to and regulates the activity of Toll-Like Receptors In Vitro
S.M. Iqbal,Catherine Leonard,Suresh C. Regmi,D. De Rantere,Pankaj Tailor,G. Ren,Hiroaki Ishida,Cy. Hsu,Saleem Abubacker,D. Sj. Pang,Paul T. Salo,Hans J. Vogel,David A. Hart,C.C. Waterhouse,Gregory D. Jay,Tannin A. Schmidt,Roman Krawetz +16 more
TL;DR: Lubricin can bind to and regulate the activity of TLRs, leading to downstream changes in inflammatory signalling independent of HA, and is confirmed in vivo through intra-articular injections of lubricin in a rat OA model where the inhibition of systemic inflammatory signaling and reduction in pain were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of the Low Molecular Weight Phosphotyrosine Phosphatase by Phosphorylation at Tyrosines 131 and 132
TL;DR: It is reported that normal T lymphocytes express the B isoform of low molecular weight protein tyrosine phosphatase B (LMPTP-B), and site-directed mutagenesis showed that Tyr-131 is important for the catalytic activity of LMPTP, and that thiophosphorylation of Tyr- 131, and to a lesser degree Tyr-132, is responsible for the activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The next wave: protein tyrosine phosphatases enter T cell antigen receptor signalling.
Tomas Mustelin,Johannes Brockdorff,Lars Rudbeck,Anette Gjörloff-Wingren,Shulin Han,Xiaodong Wang,Pankaj Tailor,Manju Saxena +7 more
TL;DR: The current state-of-the-art in the understanding of the structure, regulation and role of protein tyrosine phosphatases in T lymphocyte activation is summarized.
