Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanisms behind the prognostic value of troponin T in unstable coronary artery disease : a FRISC II substudy
TL;DR: Any detectable elevation of tnT raises the probability of significant coronary stenosis and thrombus formation and is associated with an increased risk of reinfarction and death, but at a more pronounced elevation of troponin, a higher proportion of patients has a persistent occlusion of the culprit vessel and reduced left ventricular function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recommendations for the use of natriuretic peptides in acute cardiac care: a position statement from the Study Group on Biomarkers in Cardiology of the ESC Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care.

TL;DR: Recommendations for the use of natriuretic peptides in acute cardiac care : A position statement from the Study Group on Biomarkers in Cardiology of the ESC Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Origin of Multiple Molecular Forms in Urine of HNL/NGAL
TL;DR: The development of molecular form-specific assays for HNL/NGAL may be a means to identify the origin of HNL /NGAL in urine and construct more specific tools for the diagnosis of AKI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutrophil granule proteins in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from subjects with subclinical emphysema.
Tomoko Betsuyaku,Masaharu Nishimura,Masaharu Nishimura,Kimihiro Takeyabu,Kimihiro Takeyabu,Mishie Tanino,Mishie Tanino,Per Venge,Per Venge,Shengyuan Xu,Shengyuan Xu,Yoshikazu Kawakami,Yoshikazu Kawakami +12 more
TL;DR: The appearance of a 130-kD HNL/MMP-9 complex on gelatin zymography and HNL immunoblot indicated neutrophils to be a significant source of MMP- 9 in the subjects' BALF, providing further evidence for neutrophil involvement in subclinical pulmonary emphysema.
Journal ArticleDOI
Troponin and C-reactive protein have different relations to subsequent mortality and myocardial infarction after acute coronary syndrome: A GUSTO-IV substudy
Stefan James,Paul W. Armstrong,Elliott Barnathan,Robert M. Califf,Bertil Lindahl,Agneta Siegbahn,Maarten L. Simoons,Eric J. Topol,Per Venge,Lars Wallentin,Gusto-Iv–Acs Investigators +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, C-reactive protein (CRP) and troponin T (TnT) were evaluated as predictors of risk of individual end points of mortality and myocardial infarction (MI) in a large cohort of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
