Two Enzyme Immunoassays and PCR for Detection of Helicobacter pylori in Stool Specimens from Pediatric Patients before and after Eradication Therapy

TL;DR: Both EIAs were shown to be suitable for early posttreatment control in contrast to PCR, and both showed an excellent performance with an overall sensitivity and specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Emergence of methicillin resistance predates the clinical use of antibiotics

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors show that methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus appeared in hedgehogs in the pre-antibiotic era, and these lineages spread within the local hedgehog populations and between hedge-hogs and secondary hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of a New Quantitative ompA-Based Real-Time PCR TaqMan Assay for Detection of Chlamydia pneumoniae DNA in Respiratory Specimens with Four Conventional PCR Assays

TL;DR: A new quantitative ompA-based real-time PCR assay based on TaqMan technology for detection of C. pneumoniae in respiratory samples shows the best analytical sensitivity and could detect even lower target levels from spiked sputum, with the 16S rRNA assays performing better than the omp a-based nested PCR.
