Central kiloparsec of starbursts and agn: the la palma connection
TL;DR: The first scientific astronomy conference organized completely on La Palma was held from May 7 to 11, 2001 as discussed by the authors, which was attended by 120 astronomers from 15 countries, while a number of people had to be disappointed because the capacity of the hotel and conference room would not allow more attendees.
Journal ArticleDOI
GOODS-Herschel: radio-excess signature of hidden AGN activity in distant star-forming galaxies

Le Floc'h,Birong Luo,Glenn Morrison,Emmanouel Rovilos,Emmanouel Rovilos,Mark Sargent,Yongquan Xue,Yongquan Xue +32 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting approach was proposed to select radio-excess sources amongst distant star-forming galaxies in the GOODS-Herschel (North) field and to reveal the presence of hidden, highly obscured AGN.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapidly growing black holes and host galaxies in the distant Universe from the Herschel Radio Galaxy Evolution Project
Guillaume Drouart,C. De Breuck,Joel Vernet,Nick Seymour,Matthew D. Lehnert,Pieter Barthel,Franz E. Bauer,Franz E. Bauer,Edo Ibar,Edo Ibar,Audrey Galametz,Martin Haas,Nina A. Hatch,James Mullaney,Nicole P. H. Nesvadba,Brigitte Rocca-Volmerange,H. J. A. Röttgering,Daniel Stern,Dominika Wylezalek +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results from a comprehensive survey of 70 radio galaxies at redshifts 1 10(12) L-circle dot) or hyper-luminous (L-tot(IR) > 10(13) L circle dot) infrared galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anomalous radio-loudness of Cygnus A and other powerful radio galaxies
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that radio luminosity is not a good measure of AGN power and that radio-loudness is anomalously high in the radio galaxy Cygnus A due to strong radiation losses in the dense environment.
