Drinking water quality and chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology (CKDu): synergic effects of fluoride, cadmium and hardness of water.
Hewa M. S. Wasana,Dharshani Aluthpatabendi,W. M. T. D. Kularatne,Pushpa Wijekoon,Rohan Weerasooriya,Jayasundera Bandara +5 more
TL;DR: The peculiar distribution patterns of CKDu point to a synergic effect of trace elements in water for etiology of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal population variability in local forest communities has mixed effects on tree species richness across a latitudinal gradient

Brockelman,Sarayudh Bunyavejchewin,Chia-Hao Chang-Yang,Rutuja Chitra-Tarak,George B. Chuyong,Richard Condit,H. S. Dattaraja,Stuart J. Davies,Corneille E. N. Ewango,Gary Fewless,Christine Fletcher,C. Thomas,Jill Thompson,Renato Valencia,Martha Isabel Vallejo,Xugao Wang,Yunquan Wang,Pushpa Wijekoon,Amy Wolf,Sandra L. Yap,Jess K. Zimmerman +49 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that temporal variability in the abundances of species populations has no clear negative or positive contribution to the latitudinal gradient in tree species richness.
Journal ArticleDOI
The McDonald Generalized Beta-Binomial Distribution: A New Binomial Mixture Distribution and Simulation Based Comparison with Its Nested Distributions in Handling Overdispersion
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the McDonald's Generalized Beta distribution of the first kind as the mixing distribution and introduce a new Binomial mixture distribution called the McDonald generalized Beta-Binomial distribution(McGBB).
