Nguyen,Rod A. Wing,Perry B. Cregan,James E. Specht,Jane Grimwood,Daniel S. Rokhsar,Gary Stacey,Randy C. Shoemaker,Scott A. Jackson +46 more
TL;DR: An accurate soybean genome sequence will facilitate the identification of the genetic basis of many soybean traits, and accelerate the creation of improved soybean varieties.
Journal ArticleDOI
A reference genome for common bean and genome-wide analysis of dual domestications
Jeremy Schmutz,Phillip E. McClean,Sujan Mamidi,G Albert Wu,Steven B. Cannon,Jane Grimwood,Jerry Jenkins,Shengqiang Shu,Qijian Song,Carolina Chavarro,Mirayda Torres-Torres,Valérie Geffroy,Samira Mafi Moghaddam,Dongying Gao,Brian Abernathy,Kerrie Barry,Matthew W. TL;DR: 2 independent domestications from genetic pools that diverged before human colonization are confirmed and a set of genes linked with increased leaf and seed size are identified and combined with quantitative trait locus data from Mesoamerican cultivars.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new integrated genetic linkage map of the soybean.
Qijian Song,Laura F. Marek,Randy C. Shoemaker,Karl G. Lark,Vergel C. Concibido,X. Delannay,James E. Specht,Perry B. Cregan +7 more
TL;DR: Clusters of SSR markers from map-referenced BAC clones was a very effective means of targeting markers to marker-scarce positions in the genome, indicating the significant association of genes and SSRs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of genetic bottlenecks on soybean genome diversity.
David L. Hyten,Qijian Song,Qijian Song,Youlin Zhu,Youlin Zhu,Ik-Young Choi,Randall L. Nelson,Jose M. Costa,James E. Specht,Randy C. Shoemaker,Perry B. Cregan +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors sequenced 111 fragments from 102 genes in four soybean populations representing the populations before and after genetic bottlenecks and showed that soybean has lost many rare sequence variants and has undergone numerous allele frequency changes throughout its history.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and mapping of microsatellite (SSR) markers in wheat.
Qijian Song,Qijian Song,Jianrong Shi,Sukhwinder Singh,Edward W. Fickus,Jose M. Costa,Janet M. Lewis,Bikram S. Gill,Richard W. Ward,Perry B. Cregan +9 more
TL;DR: The efficiency of marker development could be increased in wheat by creating libraries from sheared rather than enzyme-digested DNA fragments for microsatellite screening, by focusing on microsatellites with the [ATT/TAA]n motif, and by adding an untemplated G-C clamp to the 5′-end of primers.
