TL;DR: Accumulating evidence indicates that central arterial pulsatile hemodynamic abnormalities predict cardiovascular risk independent of brachial BP in various populations, whereas high-sodium/low-potassium intake are associated with hypertension, both have been shown to predict an increased cardiovascular risk even after adjustment for brachian BP and other observed factors.
