Journal ArticleDOI
Lipoprotein(a) and Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Death in Chronic Kidney Disease: Findings From the CRIC Study (Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort).
Archna Bajaj,Scott M. Damrauer,Scott M. Damrauer,Amanda H. Anderson,Dawei Xie,Matthew J. Budoff,Alan S. Go,Jiang He,James P. Lash,Akinlolu Ojo,Wendy S. Post,Mahboob Rahman,Muredach P. Reilly,Danish Saleheen,Raymond R. Townsend,Jinbo Chen,Daniel J. Rader +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of LPA gene variants and renal function on lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels in people with chronic kidney disease was investigated and the association between elevated Lp (a) and myocardial infarction and death in this setting was determined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrocardiographic Measures and Prediction of Cardiovascular and Noncardiovascular Death in CKD
Rajat Deo,Haochang Shou,Elsayed Z. Soliman,Wei Yang,Joshua M. Arkin,Xiaoming Zhang,Raymond R. Townsend,Alan S. Go,Michael G. Shlipak,Harold I. Feldman +9 more
TL;DR: Common ECG metrics are independent risk factors for cardiovascular death and enhance the ability to predict death events in a population with CKD, and most ECG measures were stronger markers of risk for cardiovasculardeath than for all-cause mortality or noncardiovascular death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Breath-hold ultrafast three-dimensional gadolinium-enhanced mr angiography of the renovascular system
Evan S. Siegelman,Maryellyn Gilfeather,George A. Holland,Jeffrey P. Carpenter,Michael A. Golden,Raymond R. Townsend,Mitchell D. Schnall +6 more
TL;DR: This pictorial essay illustrates images obtained with this enhanced breath-hold 3D spoiled gradient-echo sequence in patients with normal main and accessory renal arteries, and renal transplants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Traditional and non-traditional risk factors for incident peripheral arterial disease among patients with chronic kidney disease
Jing Chen,Emile R. Mohler,Dawei Xie,Michael G. Shlipak,Raymond R. Townsend,Lawrence J. Appel,Akinlolu O. Ojo,Martin J. Schreiber,Lisa Nessel,Xiaoming Zhang,Dominic S. Raj,Louise Strauss,Claudia M. Lora,Mahboob Rahman,L. Lee Hamm,Jiang He +15 more
TL;DR: Among patients with CKD, inflammation, prothrombotic state, oxidative stress, glycated hemoglobin, insulin resistance and alkaline phosphatase are associated with an increased risk of PAD, independent of traditional risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
NADPH oxidase-derived reactive oxygen species contribute to impaired cutaneous microvascular function in chronic kidney disease.
Jennifer J. DuPont,Meghan G. Ramick,William B. Farquhar,Raymond R. Townsend,David G. Edwards +4 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that NAD(P)H oxidase is a source of reactive oxygen species and contributes to microvascular dysfunction in patients with CKD.
