Stirring Up the Pot: Can Cooling Flows In Galaxy Clusters Be Quenched By Gas Sloshing?

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used high-resolution N-body/Eulerian hydrodynamic simulations to study gas sloshing in galaxy clusters initiated by mergers with subclusters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sloshing of the Magnetized Cool Gas in the Cores of Galaxy Clusters

TL;DR: In this paper, high-resolution magnetohydrodynamics simulations of magnetized gas sloshing in galaxy clusters initiated by encounters with subclusters have been performed, where strong velocity shears associated with the cold fronts are observed to amplify the magnetic field along the cold front surfaces, increasing magnetic field strength in these layers by up to an order of magnitude.
Journal ArticleDOI

Turbulence and radio mini-halos in the sloshing cores of galaxy clusters

TL;DR: In this paper, a high-resolution MHD simulation of gas sloshing in a galaxy cluster coupled with subgrid simulations of relativistic electron acceleration is presented to test this hypothesis.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

The ASTRO-H X-ray astronomy satellite

Tadayuki Takahashi, +248 more
- 24 Jul 2014 -
TL;DR: The ASTRO-H mission as mentioned in this paper is equipped with a suite of sensitive instruments with the highest energy resolution ever achieved at E > 3 keV and a wide energy range spanning four decades in energy from soft X-rays to gamma-rays.
