Journal ArticleDOI

Cryo-EM structure of alpha-synuclein fibrils.

TL;DR: The structure of cytotoxic alpha-synuclein fibrils is determined by cryo-electron microscopy at a resolution of 3.4 Å and a hydrophobic cleft at one end of the fibril may have implications for fibrin elongation, and invites for the design of molecules for diagnosis and treatment of synucleinopathies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the T4 baseplate and its function in triggering sheath contraction

TL;DR: The identity and function of a minimal set of components that is conserved in all contractile injection systems and show that the triggering mechanism is universally conserved are established.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alternative mechanism for bacteriophage adsorption to the motile bacterium Caulobacter crescentus

TL;DR: Evidence is presented that the first interaction of the phage with the bacterial flagellum takes place through a filament on thephage head, which may systematically underlie the initial interactions of phages with their hosts in other systems and possibly represent a widespread mechanism of efficient phage propagation.
