TL;DR: This work relates African lion population densities and population trends to contrasting management practices across 42 sites in 11 countries to show that lions in unfenced reserves are highly sensitive to human population density in surrounding communities, and unfenced populations are frequently subjected to density-independent factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of subdivision and sedentarization of pastoral lands on wildlife in an African savanna ecosystem
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of subdivision and sedentarization of pastoral lands on wildlife numbers and production in a savanna ecosystem of southern Kenya was studied using aerial counts over a period of 33 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
