Journal ArticleDOI
Strength of Association between Infarct Volume and Clinical Outcome Depends on the Magnitude of Infarct Size: Results from the ESCAPE-NA1 Trial.
Johanna M. Ospel,Johanna M. Ospel,Michael D. Hill,Bijoy K Menon,Andrew M. Demchuk,Ryan A McTaggart,Raul G Nogueira,A.Y. Poppe,Diogo C Haussen,Wu Qiu,Arnuv Mayank,M Almekhlafi,Charlotte Zerna,Manish Joshi,Mahesh V Jayaraman,Denis-Claude Roy,Jeremy L. Rempel,Brian Buck,Michael Tymianski,Mayank Goyal +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that the relationship between infarct volume and clinical outcome varies nonlinearly with the magnitude of infarcct size, and the importance of volume as an outcome predictor was linearly associated with decreased chances of achieving good outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Troponin Improves the Yield of Transthoracic Echocardiography in Ischemic Stroke Patients of Determined Stroke Subtype.
Shadi Yaghi,Andrew D Chang,Shawna Cutting,Mahesh V Jayaraman,Ryan A McTaggart,Brittany A Ricci,Katarina Dakay,Priya Narwal,Brian Mac Grory,Tina Burton,Michael E. Reznik,Brian Silver,Ajay Gupta,Christopher Song,Emile Mehanna,Matthew S Siket,Michael P Lerario,Daniel C. Saccetti,Alexander E Merkler,Hooman Kamel,Mitchell S.V. Elkind,Karen L. Furie +21 more
TL;DR: In patients with ischemic stroke, TTE might lead to a change in clinical management in ≈1 of 10 patients with known stroke subtype before TTE but changed acute treatment decisions in <1 percent of patients, and Serum troponin levels improved the yield of TTE in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thrombolytic therapy for wake-up stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Brian Mac Grory,Ian J. Saldanha,Eva Mistry,Christoph Stretz,Sven Poli,Marek Sykora,Lars Kellert,Katharina Feil,Shreyansh Shah,Ryan A McTaggart,Derek Riebau,Shadi Yaghi,Kenneth Gaines,Ying Xian,Wuwei Feng,Matthew Schrag +15 more
TL;DR: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV tPA) compared with normal saline, placebo, or no treatment in patients with wake-up stroke using imaging-based treatment algorithms was performed in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Left Atrial Enlargement and Anticoagulation Status in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke and Atrial Fibrillation
Katarina Dakay,Andrew D Chang,Morgan Hemendinger,Shawna Cutting,Ryan A McTaggart,Mahesh V Jayaraman,Antony Chu,Nikhil Panda,Christopher Song,Alexander E Merkler,Gino Gialdini,Benjamin R Kummer,Michael P Lerario,Hooman Kamel,Mitchell S.V. Elkind,Karen L. Furie,Shadi Yaghi +16 more
TL;DR: LAE is associated with anticoagulation failure in AF patients admitted with an ischemic stroke; further studies are needed to delineate the significance of this association and improve stroke prevention strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amartya Sen and the Organization of Endovascular Stroke Treatment.
Mayank Goyal,Alexis T Wilson,Noreen Kamal,Ryan A McTaggart,Mahesh V Jayaraman,Marc Fisher,Michael D. Hill +6 more
TL;DR: Sen as discussed by the authors argued that people's ability to acquire food is dominantly related to distribution rather than the absolute total amount of food available in a region, and that the current perceived shortage may be principally a problem of distribution, rather than an issue of overall availability of angiography equipment or trained personnel.
