Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of gene therapy on visual function in Leber's congenital amaurosis.

TL;DR: Three young adult patients with early-onset, severe retinal dystrophy were administered subretinal injections of recombinant adeno-associated virus vector 2/2 expressing RPE65 complementary DNA (cDNA) under the control of a human R PE65 promoter.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Drusenlike Phenotype in Aging Ccl2-Knockout Mice Is Caused by an Accelerated Accumulation of Swollen Autofluorescent Subretinal Macrophages

TL;DR: The findings suggest that the lack of Ccl2 leads to a monocyte/macrophage-trafficking defect during aging and to an impaired recruitment of these cells to sites of laser injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term preservation of cones and improvement in visual function following gene therapy in a mouse model of leber congenital amaurosis caused by guanylate cyclase-1 deficiency.

TL;DR: This is the most effective rescue of the Gucy2e(-/-) mouse model of LCA and it is proposed that a vector, similar to the one used in this study, could be suitable for use in a clinical trial of gene therapy for LCA1.
