Journal ArticleDOI
A stable compound of helium and sodium at high pressure
Xiao Dong,Artem R. Oganov,Alexander F. Goncharov,Elissaios Stavrou,Elissaios Stavrou,Sergey S. Lobanov,Sergey S. Lobanov,Gabriele Saleh,Guang-Rui Qian,Qiang Zhu,Carlo Gatti,Volker L. Deringer,Richard Dronskowski,Xiang-Feng Zhou,Xiang-Feng Zhou,Vitali B. Prakapenka,Zuzana Konôpková,Ivan A. Popov,Alexander I. Boldyrev,Hui-Tian Wang,Hui-Tian Wang +20 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the presence of He atoms causes strong electron localization and makes this material insulating, and it is predicted that the existence of Na2HeO with a similar structure at pressures above 15 GPa is predicted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pressure-induced metallization of molybdenum disulfide.
Zhenhua Chi,Xiao-Miao Zhao,Haidong Zhang,Alexander F. Goncharov,Alexander F. Goncharov,Sergey S. Lobanov,Tomoko Kagayama,Masafumi Sakata,Xiao-Jia Chen,Xiao-Jia Chen +9 more
TL;DR: X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and electrical conductivity measurements of molybdenum disulfide MoS(2) are performed at pressures up to 81 GPa, which provide evidence for isostructural phase transition from 2H(c) to2H(a) modification through layer sliding previously predicted theoretically.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iodine Adsorption in Metal Organic Frameworks in the Presence of Humidity
Debasis Banerjee,Xianyin Chen,Sergey S. Lobanov,Anna M. Plonka,Xiaojun Chan,John A. Daly,Taejin Kim,Praveen K. Thallapally,John B. Parise +8 more
TL;DR: The I2 adsorption capacity of two microporous metal organic frameworks at both dry and humid conditions is reported, which reveals distinct sorption sites of molecular I2 within the pores in proximity to the phenyl- and phenol-based linkers stabilized by the I···π and I··O interactions, which allow selective uptake of iodine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon precipitation from heavy hydrocarbon fluid in deep planetary interiors
Sergey S. Lobanov,Pei-Nan Chen,Xiao-Jia Chen,Xiao-Jia Chen,Chang-Sheng Zha,Konstantin D. Litasov,Ho-kwang Mao,Alexander F. Goncharov,Alexander F. Goncharov +8 more
TL;DR: It is argued that reduced mantle fluids precipitate diamond upon re-equilibration to lighter species in the upwelling mantle, and geophysical models of Uranus and Neptune require reassessment because chemical reactivity of planetary ices is underestimated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen sulfide at high pressure: Change in stoichiometry
Alexander F. Goncharov,Alexander F. Goncharov,Alexander F. Goncharov,Sergey S. Lobanov,Ivan A. Kruglov,Xiao-Miao Zhao,Xiao-Miao Zhao,Xiao-Jia Chen,Xiao-Jia Chen,Artem R. Oganov,Zuzana Konôpková,Vitali B. Prakapenka +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that hydrogen sulfide becomes unstable with respect to formation of compounds with different structure and composition, including Cccm and a body-centered cubic cubic like ($R3m$ or $Im\ensuremath{-} 3m$) ${\mathrm{H}}_{3}
