Low-grade inflammation, diet composition and health: current research evidence and its translation
Anne Marie Minihane,Sophie Vinoy,Wendy R. Russell,Athanasia Baka,Helen M. Roche,Kieran Tuohy,Jessica L. Teeling,Ellen E. Blaak,Michael Fenech,David Vauzour,Harry J. McArdle,Bas Kremer,Luc Sterkman,Katerina Vafeiadou,M. Massi Benedetti,Christine M. Williams,Philip C. Calder +16 more
TL;DR: The present position paper is the most recent in a series produced by the International Life Sciences Institute's European Branch and is co-authored by the speakers from a 2013 workshop led by the Obesity and Diabetes Task Force entitled ‘Low-grade inflammation, a high-grade challenge: biomarkers and modulation by dietary strategies’.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glycaemic index of cereal products explained by their content of rapidly and slowly available glucose.
TL;DR: In conclusion, the GI and II values of the cereal products investigated can be explained by the RAG and SAG contents, which identifies low-GI foods that are rich in slowly released carbohydrates for which health benefits have been proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of postprandial glycaemia on health and prevention of disease
Ellen E. Blaak,Jean-Michel Antoine,David Benton,Inger Björck,Lutgarda Bozzetto,Fred Brouns,Michaela Diamant,Louise Dye,T. Hulshof,Jens J. Holst,Daniel J. Lamport,Martine Laville,Clare L. Lawton,A. Meheust,A. Nilson,Sylvie Normand,Angela A. Rivellese,S. Theis,Signe S. Torekov,Sophie Vinoy +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, a review of available evidence is discussed on post-prandial glucose in relation to body weight control, the development of oxidative stress, T2DM and CVD and in maintaining optimal exercise and cognitive performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
No difference in body weight decrease between a low-glycemic-index and a high-glycemic-index diet but reduced LDL cholesterol after 10-wk ad libitum intake of the low-glycemic-index diet
Birgitte Sloth,Inger Krog-Mikkelsen,Anne Flint,Inge Tetens,Inger Björck,Sophie Vinoy,Helena Elmståhl,Arne Astrup,Vincent Lang,Anne Raben +9 more
TL;DR: This study does not support the contention that low-fat LGI diets are more beneficial than HGI diets with regard to appetite or body-weight regulation as evaluated over 10 wk, but it confirms previous findings of a beneficial effect ofLGI diets on risk factors for ischemic heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of a high-protein breakfast on the postprandial ghrelin response
Wendy A M Blom,Anne Lluch,Annette Stafleu,Sophie Vinoy,Jens J. Holst,Gertjan Schaafsma,H.F.J. Hendriks +6 more
TL;DR: High associations between gh Relin and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon suggest that stimulation of these peptides may mediate the postprandial ghrelin response.
