TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated whether an alternative technology using endovascular ultrasound renal denervation reduces ambulatory blood pressure in patients with hypertension in the absence of antihypertensive medications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advances in human proteomics at high scale with the SOMAscan proteomics platform.
TL;DR: This work has reached into the human proteome to quantify more than 1000 proteins in any human matrix - serum, plasma, CSF, BAL, and also tissue extracts - with the new SOMAmer-based proteomics platform and has made unbiased protein biomarker discovery a routine and fast exercise.
Journal ArticleDOI
Candidate blood proteome markers of Alzheimer's disease onset and progression: a systematic review and replication study.
Steven J. Kiddle,Martina Sattlecker,Petroula Proitsi,Andrew Simmons,Eric Westman,Chantal Bazenet,Sally K. Nelson,Stephen Williams,Angela Hodges,Caroline Johnston,Caroline Johnston,Hilkka Soininen,Iwona Kłoszewska,Patrizia Mecocci,Magda Tsolaki,Bruno Vellas,Stephen Newhouse,Simon Lovestone,Richard Dobson +18 more
TL;DR: Overall, it is shown that there are some signs of a replicable signal in the range of proteins identified in previous studies and this suggests that AD pathology does affect the blood proteome with some consistency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alzheimer's disease biomarker discovery using SOMAscan multiplexed protein technology.
Martina Sattlecker,Martina Sattlecker,Steven J. Kiddle,Steven J. Kiddle,Stephen Newhouse,Stephen Newhouse,Petroula Proitsi,Petroula Proitsi,Sally K. Nelson,Stephen Williams,Caroline Johnston,Caroline Johnston,Richard Killick,Richard Killick,Andrew Simmons,Andrew Simmons,Eric Westman,Eric Westman,Angela Hodges,Angela Hodges,Hilkka Soininen,Iwona Kłoszewska,Patrizia Mecocci,Magda Tsolaki,Bruno Vellas,Simon Lovestone,Simon Lovestone,Richard Dobson,Richard Dobson +28 more
TL;DR: The strongest associations of protein levels with AD outcomes were prostate-specific antigen complexed to α1-antichymotrypsin (AD diagnosis), pancreatic prohormone (ad diagnosis, left entorhinal cortex atrophy, and left hippocampus atrophy), clusterin (rate of cognitive decline), and fetuin B (left entorHinal atrophy).
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Proteomic Signatures of Chronological Age
Cristina Menni,Steven J. Kiddle,Massimo Mangino,Ana Viñuela,Maria Psatha,Claire J. Steves,Martina Sattlecker,Alfonso Buil,Stephen Newhouse,Sally K. Nelson,Stephen Williams,Nicola Voyle,Hilkka Soininen,Iwona Kłoszewska,Patrizia Mecocci,Magda Tsolaki,Bruno Vellas,Simon Lovestone,Tim D. Spector,Richard Dobson,Ana M. Valdes +20 more
TL;DR: The importance of proteomics to identify some molecular mechanisms involved in human health and aging is highlighted and the importance of RNAseq data from whole blood in TwinsUK is highlighted.
