Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. Vegetation Indices (VIs) obtained from remote sensing based canopies are quite simple and effective algorithms for quantitative and qualitative evaluations of vegetation cover, vigor, and growth dynamics, among other applications These indices have been widely implemented within RS applications using different airborne and satellite platforms with recent advances using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Up to date, there is no unified mathematical expression that defines all VIs due to the complexity of different light spectra combinations, instrumentation, platforms, and resolutions used Therefore, customized algorithms have been developed and tested against a variety of applications according to specific mathematical expressions that combine visible light radiation, mainly green spectra region, from vegetation, and nonvisible spectra to obtain proxy quantifications of the vegetation surface In the real-world applications, optimization VIs are usually tailored to the specific application requirements coupled with appropriate validation tools and methodologies in the ground The present study introduces the spectral characteristics of vegetation and summarizes the development of VIs and the advantages and disadvantages from different indices developed This paper reviews more than 100 VIs, discussing their specific applicability and representativeness according to the vegetation of interest, environment, and implementation precision Predictably, research, and development of VIs, which are based on hyperspectral and UAV platforms, would have a wide applicability in different areas

Mode-locked erbium doped fiber laser by using graphene oxide (GO) that obtained by oxidation and ultra-sonification process of natural graphite was reported. GO produced was dissolved in water and mixed with Polyethylene Oxide (PEO) to form film. When the fabricated GO-PEO film saturable was employed in the proposed EDFL configuration, the laser generates 1.25 ps pulses at a repetition rate of 21.8 MHz with pump input of 70 mW. The stable mode-locking operation was observed within pump input power of 70 mW until 175 mW. Soliton-like spectrum was achieved with prominent Kelly-sideband and centre wavelength of 1558.6 nm.

Graphene oxide-polyethylene oxide (peo) film as saturable absorber on mode- locked erbium doped fiber laser generation

A new approach to measure relative humidity changes by using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is presented. Etching method is used to fabricate an FBG taper. The sensitivity of the FBG sensor for relative humidity change is 0.0014 dB/% and the linearity value which is the measure of the goodness of fit is 98%. The wavelength shift with respect to relative humidity is measured to be 0.00268 nm/%.

Fiber Bragg grating sensor for humidity measurement

An erbium-doped (Er-doped) fiber amplifier operating in the C-band is gain clamped, at about 26 dB with noise figures below 6 dB by multiple fiber Bragg gratings. These gratings are placed at the amplifier output with center wavelengths in between communication channels so that unwanted amplified spontaneous emission is removed but put to good use. A 0.5-dB gain compression point at -15 dBm of input signal powers for two simultaneous signal channels is also demonstrated.

ASE spectral slice gain-clamping of EDFA

We demonstrate a stable Q-switched mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) operating in dark regime based on the nonlinear polarization rotation technique. The EDFL produces a pulse train where the Q-switching envelope is formed by multiple dark pulses. The repetition rate of the Q-switched envelope can be increased from 0.96 kHz to 3.26 kHz, whereas the pulse width reduces from 211 μs to 86 μs. The highest pulse of 479 nJ is obtained at the pump power of 55 mW. It is also observed that the dark pulses inside the Q-switching envelope consist of two parts: square and trailing dark pulses. The shortest pulse width of the dark square pulse is obtained at 40.5 μs when the pump power is fixed at 145 mW. The repetition rate of trailing dark pulses can be increased from 27.62 kHz to 50 kHz as the pump power increases from 55 mW to 145 mW.
