Brindle,Ferdia A. Gallagher +25 more
TL;DR: Imaging normal brain metabolism with hyperpolarized [1–13C]pyruvate and subsequent quantification, have important implications for interpreting pathological cerebral metabolism in future studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Graves,Jean Abraham,Fiona J. Gilbert,Carlos Caldas,Kevin M. Brindle +45 more
TL;DR: Imaging of hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate metabolism in breast cancer is feasible and demonstrated significant intertumoral and intratumoral metabolic heterogeneity, where lactate labeling correlated with MCT1 expression and hypoxia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sodium homeostasis in the tumour microenvironment.
Theresa K. Leslie,Andrew D. James,Fulvio Zaccagna,James T. Grist,Surrin S. Deen,Aneurin J. Kennerley,Frank Riemer,Joshua D. Kaggie,Ferdia A. Gallagher,Fiona J. Gilbert,William J. Brackenbury +10 more
TL;DR: Evidence indicating that Na+ handling is altered in tumours is reviewed, the current understanding of the mechanisms that may underlie these alterations are explored and the potential consequences for cancer progression are considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hyperpolarized carbon-13 magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging: a clinical tool for studying tumour metabolism
Fulvio Zaccagna,James T. Grist,Surrin S. Deen,Ramona Woitek,Laura M. Lechermann,Mary A. McLean,Bristi Basu,Ferdia A. Gallagher +7 more
TL;DR: Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) is a technique which greatly increases the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) achieved with MR by significantly increasing nuclear spin polarization and this method has now been translated into human imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffusion kurtosis MRI as a predictive biomarker of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in high grade serous ovarian cancer
Surrin S. Deen,Andrew N. Priest,Mary A. McLean,Andrew B. Gill,Andrew B. Gill,Cara Brodie,Robin Crawford,John Latimer,Peter Baldwin,Helena M. Earl,Helena M. TL;DR: Kapp was found to be a potential predictive biomarker of NACT response in HGSOC, which suggests that DKI is a promising clinical tool for use oncology and radiology that should be evaluated further in future larger studies.
