Journal ArticleDOI
Radiosynthesis and in vivo evaluation of a series of substituted 11C-phenethylamines as 5-HT (2A) agonist PET tracers.
Anders Ettrup,Martin Hansen,Martin Hansen,Martin A. Santini,James Paine,James Paine,Nic Gillings,Mikael Palner,Szabolcs Lehel,Matthias M. Herth,Jacob Madsen,Jesper L. Kristensen,Jesper L. Kristensen,Mikael Begtrup,Mikael Begtrup,Gitte M. Knudsen +15 more
TL;DR: The largest target-to-background binding ratio was found for [11C]Cimbi-36 which also had a high brain uptake compared to its analogues, and is currently the most promising candidate for investigation of 5-HT2A receptor agonist binding in the living human brain with PET.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal Changes in Brain Serotonin Transporter Binding in Short Serotonin Transporter Linked Polymorphic Region-Allele Carriers but Not in Long-Allele Homozygotes
Jan Kalbitzer,David Erritzoe,Klaus K. Holst,Finn Årup Nielsen,Finn Årup Nielsen,Lisbeth Marner,Szabolcs Lehel,Tine E. Arentzen,Terry L. Jernigan,Gitte M. Knudsen +9 more
TL;DR: The findings are in line with S-carriers having an increased response in neural circuits involved in emotional processing to stressful environmental stimuli but here demonstrated as a endophenotype with dynamic changes in serotonin reuptake.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cerebral serotonin transporter binding is inversely related to body mass index.
David Erritzoe,Vibe G. Frokjaer,Mette T. Haahr,Jan Kalbitzer,Claus Svarer,Klaus K. Holst,D. L. Hansen,Terry L. Jernigan,Szabolcs Lehel,Gitte M. Knudsen +9 more
TL;DR: This study is the first to demonstrate an abnormally decreased cerebral SERT binding in obese individuals and whether the SERT has a direct role in the regulation of appetite and eating behaviour or whether the finding is due to a compensatory downregulation of SERT secondary to other dysfunction(s) in the serotonergic transmitter system remains to be established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of Serotonin Transporter Changes in Depressive Responses to Sex-Steroid Hormone Manipulation: A Positron Emission Tomography Study
Vibe G. Frokjaer,Anja Pinborg,Klaus K. Holst,Agnete Overgaard,Susanne Henningsson,Maria Heede,Elisabeth Clare Larsen,Peter S. Jensen,Mikael Agn,Anna P. Nielsen,Dea S. Stenbæk,Sophie da Cunha-Bang,Szabolcs Lehel,Hartwig R. Siebner,Hartwig R. Siebner,Jens D. Mikkelsen,Claus Svarer,Gitte M. Knudsen +17 more
TL;DR: The data imply both serotonergic signaling and estradiol in the mechanisms by which sex-steroid hormone fluctuations provoke depressive symptoms and thus provide a rationale for future preventive strategies in high-risk groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serotonin 2A receptor agonist binding in the human brain with [11C]Cimbi-36
Anders Ettrup,Sophie da Cunha-Bang,Brenda McMahon,Szabolcs Lehel,Agnete Dyssegaard,Anine W Skibsted,Louise Møller Jørgensen,Martin Hansen,Anders O Baandrup,Søren Bache,Claus Svarer,Jesper L. Kristensen,Nic Gillings,Jacob Madsen,Gitte M. Knudsen +14 more
TL;DR: Cimbi-36 is described as the first agonist PET radioligand to successfully image and quantify 5-HT2A receptors in the human brain.
