Recent progress in research on tungsten materials for nuclear fusion applications in Europe

Michael Rieth, +70 more
TL;DR: In this article, the progress of work within the EFDA long-term fusion materials program in the area of tungsten alloys is reviewed, with a detailed overview of the latest results on materials research, fabrication processes, joining options, high heat flux testing, plasticity studies, modelling, and validation experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulatory role of microsomal 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme a reductase in a tobacco mutant that overproduces sterols☆

TL;DR: In a tobacco mutant callus, containing up to tenfold more sterols than the wild-type genotype, HMG-CoA reductase activity is increased by a factor of approximately three, as is the case in mutant seedlings and plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical assessment of functionally graded tungsten/steel joints for divertor applications

TL;DR: In this article, a functionally graded tungsten/steel joint is analyzed using the finite element method and considering a simplified model of the proper divertor component, and the resulting stresses and deformations are then evaluated to determine the optimal joining parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

A brief summary of the progress on the EFDA tungsten materials program

Michael Rieth, +70 more
TL;DR: The long-term objective of the European Fusion Development Agreement (EFDA) fusion materials programme is to develop structural and armor materials in combination with the necessary production and....
