Journal ArticleDOI

A combination of TERT promoter mutation and MGMT methylation status predicts clinically relevant subgroups of newly diagnosed glioblastomas

TL;DR: The findings suggest that a combination of IDH, TERT, and MGMT refines the classification of grade II-IV diffuse gliomas, and patients with TERT mutant-MGMT unmethylated GBM have the poorest prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

High Incidence of Deep Vein Thrombosis in the Perioperative Period of Neurosurgical Patients.

TL;DR: Cutaneous venous thrombosis frequently was observed in patients before and after undergoing craniotomies, and decreased performance status and elevated D-dimer were independent predictors for preoperative DVT, prolonged operation time, and Elevated D-Dimer on POD 7 for postoperatively DVT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surgical Site Infection after Malignant Brain Tumor Resection: A Multicenter Study for Induction of a Basic Care Bundle.

TL;DR: A care bundle does not appear to enhance prevention of SSI following malignant brain tumor surgery and future, large studies with a new care bundle should be planned based on a zero tolerance policy.
Journal ArticleDOI

IDH-mutated astrocytomas with 19q-loss constitute a subgroup that confers better prognosis.

TL;DR: It was shown that there was a subgroup, although small, of IDH‐mutated astrocytomas harboring 19q‐loss that present oligodendroglial morphology, and also were associated with significantly better prognosis compared to other 19Q‐intact astroCytomas, and this tendency was observed in The Cancer Genome Atlas Lower Grade Glioma dataset.
Journal ArticleDOI

So-called bifocal tumors with diabetes insipidus and negative tumor markers: are they all germinoma?

Masayuki Kanamori, +48 more
- 25 Feb 2021 -
TL;DR: Considering the safety and the effects of simultaneous procedures for acute hydrocephalus, biopsy was recommended in patients who fulfilled the three criteria and had GCTs or granulomatous inflammation, but not other types of tumors.
