TL;DR: The objective is to create a fully global, top-to-bottom, dynamically complete, and multidisciplinary Argo Program that will integrate seamlessly with satellite and with other in situ elements of the Global Ocean Observing System.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ measured current structures of the eddy field in the Mozambique Channel
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of in situ measurements that characterize the horizontal and vertical currents in the surface and subsurface layers (0-500m) were analyzed together with the geostrophic eddy field observed from satellite altimeter measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction of dipole eddies with the western continental slope of the Mozambique Channel
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used sea level anomaly (SLA) data to track a southward propagating eddy dipole along the western slope of the Mozambique Channel over some 6 months and found significant slope upwelling between the dipole and the shelf was evident, concomitant with enhanced nutrient and chlorophyll levels enriching shelf near-surface waters.
Journal ArticleDOI
What can South African reefs tell us about the future of high-latitude coral systems?
Michael H. Schleyer,Camilla Floros,Stuart C.S. Laing,Angus H. H. Macdonald,PH Montoya-Maya,Tamaryn Morris,Sean N. Porter,Mathieu G. Séré +7 more
TL;DR: The reefs were valued in terms of human use as well as services such as sediment generation and retention, and the nursery benefits of Acropora austera, a coral which provides the reefs with much structure and is vulnerable to damage and climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plankton distribution within a young cyclonic eddy off south-western Madagascar
TL;DR: In this paper, a cyclonic eddy generated off southern Madagascar has been studied, and the authors investigate a possible link between the Madagascar shelf and the eddy and find that mesozooplankton, nanoplankton and dinoflagellates are very similar within and outside the eddies.
