Stimulation of ileal calcium absorption by sorbitol, L-xylose, or creatine via a decrease in luminal sodium concentration: relation with concomitant changes in enterocyte energy metabolism.
TL;DR: It is proposed that carbohydrates may act to stimulate Ca transport by decreasing Na, K-ATPase activity, thereby favoring an increase in activity of Ca ATPase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Higher mortality risk among kidney transplant recipients than among estimated glomerular filtration rate-matched patients with CKD-preliminary results.
Lynda Cheddani,Sophie Liabeuf,Marie Essig,Renaud Snanoudj,Christian Jacquelinet,C. Kerleau,Marie Metzger,Beverley Balkau,Tilman B. Drüeke,Maryvonne Hourmant,Ziad A. Massy,Nantes Kidney +11 more
TL;DR: Beyond 1 year after transplantation, KTRs, who possibly had a longer CKD history, had a significantly greater mortality risk than eGFR-matched CKDps, and the excess risk was not associated with CV events.
Journal ArticleDOI
