Evidence for compact binary systems around Kepler red giants
Isabel L. Colman,Isabel L. Colman,Daniel Huber,Timothy R. Bedding,Timothy R. Bedding,James S. Kuszlewicz,James S. Kuszlewicz,Jie Yu,Jie Yu,Paul G. Beck,Yvonne Elsworth,Yvonne Elsworth,Rafael A. García,Steven D. Kawaler,Savita Mathur,Dennis Stello,Dennis Stello,Dennis Stello,Timothy R. White +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented an analysis of 168 oscillating red giants from NASA's Kepler mission that exhibit anomalous peaks in their Fourier amplitude spectra, at frequencies such that the orbit of any stellar companion would be within the convective envelope of the red giant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fundamental stellar parameters of benchmark stars from CHARA interferometry - I. Metal-poor stars
I. Karovicova,Timothy R. White,Timothy R. White,Thomas Nordlander,Luca Casagrande,Michael J. Ireland,Daniel Huber,Paula Jofre +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a set of metal-poor benchmark stars were constructed based on reliable interferometric effective temperature determinations and a homogeneous analysis. But, the number of suitable metal poor benchmark stars is currently limited, owing to the difficulty in determining reliable effective temperatures (T eff ) in this regime.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asteroseismology of the Hyades red giant and planet host epsilon Tauri
Torben Arentoft,Frank Grundahl,Timothy R. White,D. Slumstrup,Rasmus Handberg,Mikkel N. Lund,Karsten Brogaard,M. F. Andersen,Victor Silva Aguirre,Chunguang Zhang,Xiaodian Chen,Zhengzhou Yan,Benjamin J. S. Pope,Daniel Huber,Hans Kjeldsen,Jørgen Christensen-Dalsgaard,Jens Jessen-Hansen,Victoria Antoci,Søren Frandsen,Timothy R. Bedding,Pere L. Palle,Rafael A. García,Licai Deng,Marc Hon,Dennis Stello,U. G. Jørgensen +25 more
TL;DR: Asteroseismic analysis of solar-like stars allows us to determine physical parameters such as stellar mass, with a higher precision compared to most other methods as discussed by the authors, and the evolutionary stage for the planet hosting star epsilon Tau, which is one of the four red giants located in the Hyades.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asteroseismology of the Hyades red giant and planet host ϵ Tauri
Torben Arentoft,Frank Grundahl,Timothy R. White,D. Slumstrup,Rasmus Handberg,Mikkel N. Lund,Karsten Brogaard,M. F. Andersen,V. Silva Aguirre,Chuan-Peng Zhang,X. Chen,Zhengzhou Yan,Benjamin J. S. Garcia,Licai Deng,Licai Deng,Marc Hon,Dennis Stello,Dennis Stello,Dennis Stello,U. G. Jørgensen +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an asteroseismic analysis of solar-like stars is performed to determine physical parameters such as stellar mass, with a higher precision compared to most other methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calculating asteroseismic diagrams for solar-like oscillations
Timothy R. White,Timothy R. White,Timothy R. Bedding,Dennis Stello,Jørgen Christensen-Dalsgaard,Daniel Huber,Hans Kjeldsen +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the scaling relation between the large frequency separation, Delta nu, and mean stellar density is investigated, and model evolutionary tracks for several asteroseismic diagrams are presented.
