Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid gas chromatographic screening of edible seeds, nuts and beans for non-protein and protein amino acids.

TL;DR: Water extraction with subsequent picric acid treatment and solvent washing (ethyl acetate and diethyl ether) was employed for the rapid isolation of free amino acids from non-aqueous food samples, and eleven non-protein amino acids were tentatively identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonprotein amino acids from Cycas revoluta

TL;DR: Two nonprotein amino acids, cycasindene and cycasthioamide, were isolated from the seeds of Cycas revoluta Thunb and elucidated as 3-[3'-amino-indenyl-2]-alanine and N-[glycinyl-alaninyl-11-thio]-5-one-pipecolic acid by chemical and spectral methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two new neoflavonoids and C-glycosylflavones from Passiflora serratodigitata

TL;DR: The aerial parts of Passiflora serratodigitata yielded 5,7-dihydroxy-4-phenylcoumarin, its 7-β-glucoside and the known C-glycosylflavones 2″-xylosylvitexin, 2″ −2 −1 −1, 2 −1−1, vitexins, isovitexIN, a vicenin, and orientin this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Induction of phenylpropanoid pathway enzymes in elicitor-treated cultures ofCephalocereus senilis

TL;DR: Treatment of old-man-cactus suspension cultures with chitin elicits synthesis of an aurone phytoalexin, cephalocerone, and increased extractable activities of the phenylpropanoid pathway enzymes phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), chalcone synthase (CHS) and chal cone isomerase ( CHI) accompanied the synthesis of cep Halocer one.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fercolide, a type of sesquiterpene lactone from Ferula communis subsp. communis and the correct structure of vaginatin

TL;DR: In this article, a new ester, fercomin and the first known daucane-γ-lactone, fercolide, were isolated from Ferula communis subsp. communis.
