Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlinear lattice dynamics as a basis for enhanced superconductivity in YBa2Cu3O6.5.

TL;DR: The crystal structure of this exotic non-equilibrium state of YBa2Cu3O6+x is reported, determined by femtosecond X-ray diffraction and ab initio density functional theory calculations, and the enhancement in the character of the in-plane electronic structure is likely to favour superconductivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optically enhanced coherent transport in YBa2Cu3O6.5 by ultrafast redistribution of interlayer coupling

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that by exciting apical oxygen distortions in the cuprate system YBa2Cu3O65, an unusual photoconductive effect is induced both at low and at high temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resonant x-ray scattering study of charge-density wave correlations in YBa 2 Cu 3 O 6 + x

TL;DR: Using resonant x-ray scattering, this paper mapped the evolution of charge density wave correlations in a series of YBa${}_{2}$Cu${}{3}$O${}$6+x}$ single crystals at a wide range of doping levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrafast X-rays determine the optically induced lattice distortions that transiently enhance superconducting transport in YBa2Cu3O6.5

TL;DR: In this paper, anisotropic changes in the buckling of the inplane Cu-O bonds are found, which may perturb the charge density wave order that is believed to compete with superconductivity.
