TL;DR: The crystal structure of this exotic non-equilibrium state of YBa2Cu3O6+x is reported, determined by femtosecond X-ray diffraction and ab initio density functional theory calculations, and the enhancement in the character of the in-plane electronic structure is likely to favour superconductivity.

TL;DR: Atomic-resolution crystal structures of Ca2- and Mg2+-bound complexes between synaptotagmin-1 and the neuronal SNARE complex are reported, one of which was determined with diffraction data from an X-ray free-electron laser, leading to an atomic-resolution structure with accurate rotamer assignments for many side chains.

TL;DR: It is shown that atomic disordering in photoexcited vanadium dioxide (VO2) is central to the transition mechanism and that, after photoexcitation, the system explores a large volume of phase space on a time scale comparable to that of a single phonon oscillation.
