Computer algebra systems are now ubiquitous in all areas of science and engineering. This highly successful textbook, widely regarded as the “bible of computer algebra”, gives a thorough introduction to the algorithmic basis of the mathematical engine in computer algebra systems. Modern computer algebra

The Artificial Intelligence field continues to be plagued by what can only be described as ‘bold promises for the future syndrome’, often perpetrated by researchers who should know better. While impartial assessment can point to concrete contributions over the past 50 years (such as automated theorem proving, games strategies, the LISP and Prolog high-level computer languages, Automatic Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing, mobile robot path planning, unmanned vehicles, humanoid robots, data mining, and more), the more cynical argue that AI has witnessed more than its fair share of ‘unmitigated disasters’ during this time – see, for example [3,58,107,125,186]. The general public becomes rapidly jaded with such ‘bold predictions’ that fail to live up to their original hype, and which ultimately render the zealots’ promises as counter-productive.

Computational Intelligence: An Introduction

One necessary part of Industry 4.0 is the availability and accessibility of data processing pipelines. This paper shows the ongoing development of ML4ProFlow, a framework that brings together the following parts: First, it provides the management of execution environments. Second, it specifies processing modules that focus on reusability and cross-platform usage. Third, it comes with a benchmarking automation to help developers implementing and analyzing modules and their combination. Those three integral parts of the framework are presented and the usability is shown.

Um das dabei standig wachsende Datenaufkommen zu verarbeiten, bedarf es leistungsfahiger Kno-tenpunkte in Sprach- und Datennetzwerken. In diesem Artikel stellen wir eine Architektur fur Netzwerkprozes-soren vor, die auf einer homogenen, massiv parallelen Struktur basiert. Sie ist fur unterschiedliche Einsatzgebiete skalierbar und durch spezielle Hardwarebeschleuniger fur die Zielapplikation optimierbar, um besonders res-sourceneffizient zu sein. Wir zeigen Anforderungen fur zwei Netzwerk-Anwendungsszenarien auf und stellen die Leistungssteigerung durch die von uns implementierten Hardware-Erweiterungen dar.

This paper presents dynamic reconfiguration of FPGA hardware for mini-robots. By dynamic reconfiguration the robot's hardware can be optimally utilized depending on the application context. The application considered in this paper is robot soccer. For this, the autonomous mini-robot Khepera is equipped with 2D camera and our universal FPGA-Microcontroller module.

Cooperative Cube Clustering using Local Communication

A physical network of an adaptive associative memory is presented. The concept of the network is derived from the Analog Associative Memory due to T. Kohonen and from the Associative Matrix due to G. Palm. The system concept of such a memory is adapted to the VLSI-technique by being partioned into uniform memory slices and by introducing a nonvolatile memory cell. Especially the task of transferring the system concept into technology in order to realize a microelectronic component with new interesting features will be pointed out. The performance of an adaptive associative memory is discussed by means of computer simulations.
