Novel biomarkers for pre-diabetes identified by metabolomics
Rui Wang-Sattler,Zhonghao Yu,Christian Herder,Ana C. Messias,Anna Floegel,Ying He,Katharina Heim,Monica Campillos,Christina Holzapfel,Barbara Thorand,Harald Grallert,Tao Xu,Erik Bader,Cornelia Huth,Kirstin Mittelstrass,Angela Döring,Christa Meisinger,Christian Gieger,Cornelia Prehn,Werner Roemisch-Margl,Maren Carstensen,Lu Xie,Hisami Yamanaka-Okumura,Guihong Xing,Uta Ceglarek,Joachim Thiery,Guido Giani,Heiko Lickert,Xu Lin,Yixue Li,Heiner Boeing,Hans-Georg Joost,Martin Hrabé de Angelis,Wolfgang Rathmann,Karsten Suhre,Karsten Suhre,Holger Prokisch,Annette Peters,Thomas Meitinger,Michael Roden,Michael Roden,H-Erich Wichmann,Tobias Pischon,Jerzy Adamski,Thomas Illig +44 more
TL;DR: Seven T2D‐related genes are identified that are associated with these three IGT‐specific metabolites by multiple interactions with four enzymes, and the expression levels of these enzymes correlate with changes in the metabolite concentrations linked to diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences between human plasma and serum metabolite profiles
Zhonghao Yu,Gabi Kastenmüller,Ying He,Petra Belcredi,Gabriele Möller,Cornelia Prehn,Joaquim Mendes,Simone Wahl,Werner Roemisch-Margl,Uta Ceglarek,Alexey Polonikov,Norbert Dahmen,Holger Prokisch,Lu Xie,Yixue Li,H.-Erich Wichmann,Annette Peters,Florian Kronenberg,Karsten Suhre,Karsten Suhre,Jerzy Adamski,Thomas Illig,Rui Wang-Sattler +22 more
TL;DR: This study shows that reproducibility was good in both plasma and serum, and better in plasma, and as long as the same blood preparation procedure is used, either matrix should generate similar results in clinical and biological studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The LIFE-Adult-Study: objectives and design of a population-based cohort study with 10,000 deeply phenotyped adults in Germany
Markus Loeffler,Christoph Engel,Peter Ahnert,Dorothee Alfermann,Katrin Arélin,Katrin Arélin,Ronny Baber,Frank Beutner,Hans Binder,Elmar Brähler,Ralph Burkhardt,Uta Ceglarek,Cornelia Enzenbach,Michael Fuchs,Heide Glaesmer,Friederike Girlich,Andreas Hagendorff,Madlen Häntzsch,Ulrich Hegerl,Sylvia Henger,Tilman Hensch,Andreas Hinz,Volker Holzendorf,Daniela Husser,Anette Kersting,Alexander Kiel,Toralf Kirsten,Jürgen Kratzsch,Knut Krohn,Tobias Luck,Susanne Melzer,Jeffrey Netto,Matthias Nüchter,Matthias Raschpichler,F. TL;DR: The objective is to investigate prevalences, early onset markers, genetic predispositions, and the role of lifestyle factors of major civilization diseases, with primary focus on metabolic and vascular diseases, heart function, cognitive impairment, brain function, depression, sleep disorders and vigilance dysregulation, retinal and optic nerve degeneration, and allergies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardized Approach to Proteome Profiling of Human Serum Based on Magnetic Bead Separation and Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry
Sven Baumann,Uta Ceglarek,Georg Martin Fiedler,Jan Lembcke,Alexander Benedikt Leichtle,Joachim Thiery +5 more
TL;DR: Application of the standardized preanalytical blood sampling and storage procedure in combination with magnetic bead-based fractionation decreases variability of proteome patterns in human serum assessed by MALDI-TOF MS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardized peptidome profiling of human urine by magnetic bead separation and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
Georg Martin Fiedler,Sven Baumann,Alexander Benedikt Leichtle,Anke Oltmann,Julia Kase,Joachim Thiery,Uta Ceglarek +6 more
TL;DR: This reliable pretreatment protocol allows standardization of preanalytical modalities and facilitates reproducible peptidome profiling of human urine by means of magnetic bead separation followed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS).
